I grew up watching the show and I am aware that all the seasons are available unofficially. I am wondering if there is official releases for all the seasons and also the specials that came out in the early 1980's.

As far as I know, there are no plans to release the entire series in one large set. But the 3 specials that aired in 1983-84 were released on DVD in November 2006...available at places like amazon under the title "Little House on the Prairie - Special Edition Movie Boxed Set". Extras include an in-depth interview with Melissa Gilbert and a couple of making of documentaries.

I'm confused by your statement. What do you mean by the seasons are available unofficially? That implies to me that the ones that are available are bootleg releases, and I can assure you that the ones I do own are definitely not bootleg but official releases.

If I'm misunderstanding you, perhaps you'd care to clarify?
