Sorry to the be Specter at the Banquette but I wanted to discuss something that I have noticed more and more on these boards, video quality vs. completion.

I see people that pass up UNCUT lower quality episodes of shows they want, in favor of perfect quality yet missing 2-3 minutes of footage episodes of those same shows, with the disclaimer "I just want them looking perfect". Why they hell would the video quality override the completion?

If Universal pulled all existing prints of Jaws and re-released the movie missing, say, 7 minutes of scenes yet had PERFECT in every way video quality, would you pay for it? Of course not. If they pulled "Stairway To Heaven" and re-released the song in crystal clear quality minus the entire "As We Wind On Down The Road" segment, would anyone listen to the damn song?

An unofficial poll, who out there would rather have perfect looking but incomplete episodes or complete but lower quality episodes (if those were the only options)?

Then there is the music rights issue. A disturbingly large amount of shows today are being played on TV or released on DVD missing the music they had when they aired. Why would you want these versions? I would (and do) seek out the correct versions of these shows with the music intact.

I have large collections of uncut shows with the correct music that are just butchered when they are on TV or DVD. Why settle for the bull**** games that the companies play? Seek out the real versions and if a generation or two in the video department has to be sacrificed in that quest, so be it.... at least I am seeing the show correctly and completely....

Grrrrrrr, sorry this crap just gets me worked up....
