Do any of you have a local channel that offers you classic television?

We have a local channel that has made some changes this week. They are offering a great evening line-up of shows that I love. So, after Alice at 7:30 pm on ION, I watch KDOC to watch some great classics that TVLand used to offer. This channel (KDOC) used to offer very little programming, but it has really been making changes to its schedule that is geared towards putting classics back on the air.

http://www.kdoctv.net/

Here is the line-up for Monday thru Friday:

9:00 am: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE
10:00 am: IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT
11:00 am: MATLOCK
12:00 pm: PERRY MASON
1:00 pm: QUINCY
2:00 pm: HAWAII FIVE-0
3:00 pm: MAGNUM P.I.
4:00 pm: THE NANNY
4:30 pm: MAD ABOUT YOU
6:00 pm: CHEERS
6:30 pm: CHEERS
7:00 pm: WILD WILD WEST
8:00 pm: SAVED BY THE BELL
8:30 pm: BRADY BUNCH
9:00 pm: PARTRIDGE FAMILY
9:30 pm: BEWITCHED
10:00 pm: I DREAM OF JEANNIE
10:30 pm: HONEYMOONERS
11:00 pm: TWILIGHT ZONE
11:30 pm: NIGHT GALLERY

This channel is a different channel than ION is though. I don't get this channel. I get ION.

I know that. What I am saying is that I watch ION for Alice and when 8:30 comes around, I watch THIS CHANNEL. It is not ION. It is a local channel available only here in parts of Southern California.

Okay. Sorry. I was just making sure. That channel has alot of good shows on it. I wish TVLand had alot of those shows still. They just replay shows over and over on TVLand. I like how it used to be where they had all kinds of different shows on there. I watch ION for The Wonder Years.

Oh hush. I love Bewitched and Partridge family. Besides, these shows were just added this week. Before, there was only movies on. I am sure there will be more changes as they see that they are going to get more viewers since TVland is no longer a good classic channel.

This channel also offers Carson Comedy Classics, Hogans Heroes, McHales Navy, etc.

Do you have any local channels that offer classic shows? That is what I asked in this thread.

Thank you. I am curious to know because it just seems to me that this channel is trying to give us viewers some choices as far as classic tv goes. Which I like, since we all know TVland is going down the tubes at the rate it is going. I hope ION makes some changes and adds some more classic shows, they have waaaay too much airtime devoted to paid programming.

Sadly, not anymore. Our FOX station airs M*A*S*H reruns at 1 or 2 in the morning, but I've never cared for that show. Our WB/CW affiliate used to show Happy Days, Good Times, and Amen, but not anymore. Our UPN/MyNewtorkTV channel showed Bewitched, Addams Family, Green Acres and Andy Griffith on weekday mornings, plus a Sunday cop show block: Baretta, Hunter, Kojak, Starsky and Hutch, and Charlie's Angels. Sadly, they don't show these reruns anymore. I think on Saturday afternoons, they still show Lucy, All In The Family and The Jeffersons. I work on Saturdays so I don't know if they still do.

Ah well. I have several classic series DVD sets of my own, plus I check out many more from the library. I don't need the local channels anymore, with their reality crap and 41,987 "paid programs". Bah humbug. :p

well Solomon; aparently you don't get WFMZ. They show I LOVE LUCY and THE BRADY BUNCH. Theyy used to also show THE HONEYMOONERS and THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, but, sadly, they took those off. Maybe they also show other classic shows, I don't know.

Don't know if this is only local or nationwide
UPN 54 (New Orleans)
Gimme A Break and Benson are shown in the afternoons (GMAB replaced 227 not long ago)
On Sundays sometimes our local Fox will air Cheers

Hey, you beat me to that one!

But yeah, WUPL airs "Gimme a Break!" and "Benson" back to back on weekdays at 12:00pm and 12:30pm. "The Jeffersons" and "Sanford and Son" come on back to back at 9:00pm and 9:30pm.

WHNO has a nice little afternoon block:

3pm: "I Love Lucy"
3:30: "The Andy Griffith Show"
4pm: "Little House on the Prairie"
5pm: "Matlock"
6pm: "Hogan's Heroes"
6:30: "The Rifleman"

It's nice and everything, but I don't watch it much. I watch ILL on TVLand in the mornings if I ever feel like watching it, I watch LHOTP on Hallmark, same with "Matlock." I always forget that HH comes on. On Saturday evenings at 5pm, "Daniel Boone" comes on.

This channel used to air "Marcus Welby, M.D." daily at 5pm and "The Lucy Show" Wednesdays at 3pm. If I remember correctly, they'd have a different half-hour show at the 3pm timeslot each day: "The Beverly Hillbillies" on Monday, "The Andy Griffith Show" on Tuesday, "The Lucy Show" on Wednesday, "Lassie" on Thursday, and something else on Friday, I forget what it was.

Irene,

Wait until RTN goes coast to coast next month. Then hopefully you'll see some good stuff---even better than ION, in my opinion! For now, I like that schedule you posted. From 8:30 on, it's great!

In my area, there isn't a local channel that operates exclusively as a Classic TV station. CKVR TV in Barrie used to do it in the early 90s and their lineups were excellent! Today, the closest thing might be SUN TV, which operates out of Toronto and serves the Southern Ontario area. On UHF, you can get it on channel 52 if you live outside the viewing area and still like to use antenna reception. RTN in Buffalo is channel 67 but I like to watch it better on my computer. The SUN TV afternoon lineup looks like this:

12:00 pm FAMILY AFFAIR
12:30 LEAVE IT TO BEAVER
1:00 HERE'S LUCY
1:30 CHICO AND THE MAN
2:00 Best of ED SULLIVAN
2:30-5:00 Various crappy Canadian series
5:00 HOME IMPROVEMENT

There is also CTS (UHF 36) which also was great when it started but now it's turned into more of a 80s and 90s station with emphasis on a lineup that's similar to ABC Family in the US. Their lineup looks like this:

3:00 pm TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL
4:00 7th HEAVEN
5:00 HAPPY DAYS
5:30 Real Life with Sharon Cuddy (local public-affairs show)
6:00 FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR
6:30 STEP BY STEP
7:00 FULL HOUSE
7:30 THE FACTS OF LIFE

Between "Happy Days" and "Facts Of Life", the quality drops off very sharply.

It's obvious that the Canadian stations, and that goes for national as well as local stations, have a lot of work to do. This summer, all of the stations will have their upfronts and I'll give you the highlights when they appear. If this is the best that they can do, then, clearly, it's not nearly good enough!

I would love to see Family Affair! I haven't seen that in ages. I could use Facts of Life as well.

Chico and the Man I see on ALN.

They used to air The Honeymooners on channel 11 here at like 1am years ago. Now they only air for the New Year's Eve marathon. I wonder why they don't air on a rugular basis anymore. Does anyone know if they air on TVLand?!

Channel 55 The Tube (http://www.thetube.net/) plays classic, retro-type shows. Then on Saturday nights at 10:30, they'll air old horror movies. Unfortunately, they dropped The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. :(

WUPA/ch. 69 (CW) airs Good Times at 10 am, Sanford and Son at 10:30 am Monday-Thursday, and The Jeffersons at 11 am Monday-Friday. They used to air I Love Lucy in the mornings, but they no longer do so.

WAGA/ch. 5 (Fox) in the overnight airs M*A*S*H* and on weekends sometimes as well.
