I am wondering the age range for the board. I thought it would be interesting to see who had a chance to see the show when it was originally on. I was born a year after the show ended (1978).

I'm 22, born in 1985.

I'm 49; and I remember it well! Saturday night at 9 (first 9:30) on CBS. I remember the CBS lineup then was ALL IN THE FAMILY at 8, THE JEFFERSONS at 8:30, MTM at 9, THE BOB NEWHART SHOW at 9:30, and THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW at 10.

I'm also 49, and remember watching it in the 70's.

I'm jealous of you guys who remember the original run! I turned 25 last month. It's great that we have such a range of ages here, though. :)

I'm 40 and was 10 when MTM went off the air, but I didn't start watching it until a local station showed it in syndication in the early 80's.

I'm 37 and was born in 1969.

I'm 21, born in 1985. I started watching MTM on Nick at Nite when I first got cable in 1995. I LOVED this show instantly. Became an instant favorite.

up until january 1976 we only had one tv channel CBS. Good thing CBS had a boatload of good shows

I always liked Rhoda even as a kid, but didn't really "get" Lou or some of the other characters.

Also, I guess I still associated Mary with Dick Van Dyke so much I had a tough time getting past that. Especially when Dick tried to come out with new shows (The New Dick Van Dyke Show, etc.) I couldn't get used to him not being married to "Laura". They had incredible chemistry together and I think that's what did it.

Im the same age as my friend Cathie here (Tripperfan), well, i wont be 46 for 2 months but..... anyway, I watched this show during its first run religiously, and to this day, I think it had a lot to do with the way I look at the world and working women in general, I believe this show had a lot to do with positive attitudes about women in society, more so than any amount of "women's lib" rallies, with women carrying picket signs ever had! Sadly, theres no local stations showing MTM in this area, so i havent seen it for years.

I know it's OT guys, so forgive me. But "The Muppet Show" was actually intended for adults. A lot of the humor on the show would go over childrens heads! LOL, anyway, we now return you to your regularly scheduled topic already in progress.

Was 9 when it first came on but have no strong memories until the 1973 season. The early years I missed I caught in sydication later. Now the first four seasons are in my TV collection - patiently awaiting the final three.

I'm 48, was born in 1960.
I missed one or two of the first-season episodes, but watched TMTMS religiously from 1972 on, even the re-runs in the summer.
The biggest attraction to me as a youngster was MTM herself (one of the local UHF stations was also running Dick Van Dyke reruns around the same time, so I easily could get my MTM fix).
But the fantastic cast, the family feel, and the great comedy writing kept me enthralled, and I was always interested in journalism so it held some interest in that regard, too.

After TMTMS went off the air, being so busy I never saw it in syndication on local channels, or even on nick at nite, and only bought seasons 1-4 on DVD the year season 4 came out. but it's funny, i remember the major scenes from nearly every episode by heart even though i didn't start re-watching for close to 30 years!

I'd also agree with previous posts that the CBS saturday night lineup was fantastic, and that I learned more in a lot of ways watching TMTMS than I would have being out every saturday night.

Can't give enough applause to the young 'uns who have seen the show in syndication or on the first four DVDs and who say they love it. But then again it's not surprising...having bought bootlegs of seasons 5-7 and currently finishing the series up again, it's still the best sitcom ever, and hasn't lost a thing over the years!

I first started watchnig the show when I was about 12 I think. I loved The Dick Van Dyke Show and of course then wanted to see Mary's show. I've only seen seasons 1-3 as that's what I have on DVD but I absolutely love it. It is such an excellent sitcom. :)

I'm 26, started watching this and other great classic shows about ten years ago. When TVland was good. This show is on my top ten list of tv shows!

I can't even remember the first time I saw this show. But I've watched it since I was little and have been a fan for as long as I can remember and will always be. :)

I have, of course, seen it when it was on Nick @ Nite and TVLAND. ;)

It's my all-time favorite show and Mary is my all-timefavorite actress! :D
