Why did they have Willis spank Arnold? How stupid was that? Mr. Drummond was the father at that point. He was taking care of them and doing everything a father does, and they accepted him as their father. One thing a father does is discipline. What makes it even more dumb is that in later episodes there are numerous references to Mr. Drummond spanking both Willis and Arnold. When would he have starting spanking them? Wasn't Willis too old to be spanked when they came to live with him? Also, did he ever spank Kimberly? Didn't one time Kimberly say she was spanked?


Because at that point Mr.D was a stranger to them, that's why.
