I finally got around to seeing Sandlot, and I loved it; there were so many things in it that I could relate to. In fact, I liked it so much, I'm including it as one of my all-time favorite movies. I just can't believe it took me all this time to finally see it. One of the reasons I liked it was because of the setting of the movie. I was around the age of the kids in the movie, when the story was supposed to have taken place. The music and everything brought me back.
The characters that I could relate to most were 'Squints' Pallidouris and Scotty Smalls. In some ways, I was a little bit of both of these characters. I'd like to know from other posters if they could relate to any of the Sandlot characters, whether or not they grew up in that era. I'd also like to say that, in both places I grew up in--Brooklyn and New Jersey--there was always a 'Benny Rodriguez' type of friend, who was just an all-around good guy and unconditional friend. I've been fortunate that way.
