Actor Dominic Monaghan is furious his character has been killed off in the hit castaway show Lost, insisting the show's creators could have chosen other, less likeable personalities to axe from the plot.

Monaghan plays rocker Charlie Pace on the popular TV program and meets his untimely death as he attempts to save other islanders.

He fumes, "I think lots of people are gonna be pretty pissed off. Especially as there are others on the show they are more keen on having disappear."

But the 30-year-old is looking to the positive side of things, and is hoping to start work on other projects he has already been offered.

He adds, "It's time to move on. There's a whole bunch of opportunities that have been up in the air as I couldn't commit to them because of Lost."

I figured that. Nobody wants off a hit show....well George Clooney and a few others, but still, it's gotta hurt.

I don't think this is true. I'm not believing anything until I actually see Dominic saying this...There were articles back in February or so, saying he wants off the show....Now he's mad they killed him? Sorry, I don't believe it.

I've been reading a lot of Lost message boards and a lot of fans are mad that Charlie got killed off. I liked the character too. I think sometimes writers feel the need to kill people off just to make it look real and they can go overboard like 24 does. If anyone needed to get killed off it was Juliet...something about her I don't like.

Charlie's part was kind of getting smaller on the show, so you kind of figured he wouldn't be around too much longer. And then Desmond having all those visions of Charlie's death was another sign. So he had to know there was a good chance he would be leaving the show.

I remember reading an interview with him recently, and he was quite philosophical about leaving the show. He didn't seem angry or terribly disappointed about his character being killed off.
