Ive noticed in Roseanne that whenever dan tries to have a say in anything roseanne ignores it and does whatever the hell she wants which usally is the right thing.Well i kinda feel bad for dan in these situations dont get me wrong many sitcoms before hand and after have been over ran by men etc..but i cant help but feel bad for dan and the other men in the show especially as the seasons ran on.i think the only guy in the show that dosnt get treated like that is dj but he kinda got on my nerves futher on in the show. What do you think?

Yeah, I think Roseanne came on too strong in the later seasons. She became more mean rather than funny. Everyone knew she had a dominant personality; the show was pretty much based on that. She didn't need to become a witch to emphasize that. Dan sucked it up and allowed her to become worse, and only stood up to her a few times.

She treated DJ the best but always made comments about him behind his back. No male was exempt from Roseanne's attitude.

I agree with you. In my opinion, DJ was annoying. I didn't like the way he shouted his lines and always had a scowl on his face. When he got older his acting seemed phony, like he was uncomfortable.

One of DJ's meanest moments came when Roseanne was laying up in bed after her back went out and Roseanne said to him: "Where's my birthday kiss?" he responded: "Come and get it." and he walked away.

It was mean, however, he was a kid and he was annoyed that it was his birthday and kids don't always understand that parents are not perfect. In this case, his mom was sick. He wanted his birthday celebrated and what kid wouldn't feel bothered by their birthday celebration almost being wiped out. Thank Goodness for Bev :D ...although she ruined two opportunities for Dan, she was trying.

D.J's attitude I feel came as a result of his two older sisters who were bratty and treated poor D.J. worse than a family pet. Roseanne and her sarcasm and attitude just rubbed off on him as well. Can't imagine a kid growing up in that family and actually being nice most of the time.

But I do give kudos to Roseanne for bringing reality to the screen. I didn't have a family like hers, but a lot of kids I knew sure did. I still see it at certain people's homes.

Roseanne's bad personal life sure did rub off on how her show took a turn for the worst. I loved the interaction of her and Dan. Dan sure did take a back seat to Roseanne's domineering nature. We have been exposed to many shows throughout the years where men were in charge. Roseanne changed that. I think that Dan just decided to "chill" and let Roseanne be in charge because it worked. There are times when it was best for Dan to just remain quiet, rather than get into a hassle with Roseanne. Although, the few times we seen Dan get over on Roseanne, it was nice and not cheesy.

Good posts!

And it was said Dan probably just would rather not get in a hassle with Roseanne and stay quiet. You mean John Goodman!
