In "Vacation From Marriage" Fred is wearing glasses. Or at least they are on top of his head, as Ethel points it out to him. He can't seem to find them and Ethel always points them out to him.

What other episodes do we see Fred with glasses? I know in a scene in a restaurant shows him wearing glasses, I think the French restaurant.

ALSO!!!!!!!!! If Ethel wanted to be sure the men were home, why didn't she just call the apartment and see if the boys answered. If they answered, then they didn't go out. Ethel was soooo worried thinking the boys had gone out since the girls had done the ruse that they were going out to 21.

Another observation, my boyfriend told me this one....when Lucy had just crossed the plank to the other building, why didn't she just go down the stairs in the other building and go back to their building and open the door for Ethel since it was obvious Ethel was too scared to walk the plank? It wouldn't have hurt to see if the door on the roof was open, if so, just walk down.

As for the waterhose on the roof, my boyfriend told me this, he is a roofer, he has seen many waterhoses on roofs. He states as for the buildings in the 50's, the hose was used for fire reasons. In the event there was a fire somewhere in the building one could run up to the roof and use that water for safety reasons as well to battle any flames until you can get saved. Also, in those times and earlier, one would use the water hose to help keep flames from jumping from a nearby building that was on fire. I would think mostly the landlord or the owner would do that.

Irene, thanks for the info about hoses on roofs! That has bothered me for years. Also, I never understood why Lucy came back after she successfully crossed the plank.

The only other time I remember Fred wearing glasses besides the two times you mentioned, was in the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. He wanted a front-row seat to watch Betty Grable rehearse at the Ricardo's house in "Lucy Wins a Racehorse."

Ethel's great line: "This is the first time he's cleaned his glasses since he looked for a loophole in our marriage license."

About Fred's glasses, I don't think we see him in them, but when Fred accidentally sends the band to the wrong place in Switzerland, he says it's because he couldn't see the schedule since Ethel sat on his glasses. Also, in the episode where Ricky keeps showing his home movies, Ethel and Fred talk about him bringing his glasses so he can see the movies.

What about Lucy?! We see her wearing glasses maybe once or twice while using a typewriter but never to read or anything like that. Seems pretty odd.

Good observation. I hate seeing characters wearing glasses when they don't wear them any other time. She also wore them (as a costume) when she and Ethel were trying to market that salad dressing.

And she also wore them when she tried to disguise herself from William Holden and set her nose on fire.

Another weird glasses situation: In the LDCH episode, "Lucy's Summer Vacation," Lucy picks up a pair of sunglasses off of the counter thinking they were Ricky's. Ricky tries them on and says that they weren't his, his were prescription. Why on earth would Ricky have prescription sunglasses when he doesn't even wear regular glasses?

In Hollywood I think Fred takes glasses out of his shirt pocket and puts them on to look important when Lucy and Ethel were trying to think of someone to play a producer to scare Dory Sherry into not firing Ricky.

You're right, Larry! It was in "'Don Juan' is Shelved." They are dressed up as Ricky's fan club and Fred is wearing that horribly tacky outfit. He just "happened" to have his glasses in his pocket!
