How did Alice find out that Ben was a bigamist? It went from Alice being a maid of honor to her saying that Ben had many wives. What the heck did I miss?

After Mel cuts the glass in the door with the diamond, they talk about Ben throwing a party with his business associates, then on E!, it looked like there was a cut, then it showed Ben come in and talk to Alice, where he revealed he was still married to his 3 wives, then he got a page and left to use his car phone. That's where ION picked it up, after Ben left. It was about 3-4 minutes of footage shown on E! that was cut out on ION. I bet there was stuff shown on ION that was cut out on E! though, but I haven't compared the two side by side.

Thanks for the heads up. I found it weird that out of nowhere, Alice talks about Ben's 3 wives.

This was the scene that I have on tape, I think it's from TNN-

Ben arrives back in the Diner:

BEN: Where is my Florence?

ALICE: Oh, she's, she's in the back. She'll be out in a minute.

BEN: Oh, very good.

ALICE: Would you like to sit down, maybe a cup of coffee?

BEN: Oh, that would be nice.

ALICE: (bringing it over) May I sit down?

BEN: Oh, please be seated.

ALICE: I'm a little worried about my friend Flo in your culture. I mean, she comes from a world of 'ring-dand-do' and Kiss-my-grits'---

BEN: (laughing) Kiss My Grits! Yes! Charming . . .

ALICE: (smiling slightly) Yes, well . . . I'm just, will she have any trouble making friends there?

BEN: Oh, she will have many many many friends, yes

ALICE: (relieved) Oh, she will?

BEN: Yes. I'm sure that in time Kasmi, Shatva, and Maloi will come to love Florence just as much as I do.

ALICE: (confused) Oh . . . these are your sisters?

BEN: No these are my wives.

ALICE: Your . . . oh, well, oh you're friendly with your former wives, oh that's very mature.

BEN: I have no former wives. These are all my current wives.

ALICE: (shocked) What? Three wives?

BEN: This is so.

ALICE: (in accent) This is terrible.

BEN: Yes, yes I know, because all of my brothers they have four. BUT with Florence I'll be moving right up there with them, yes.

ALICE: Oh, boy. Listen, does Flo know that she's going to be a Gaza Groupie?

BEN: Gaza Groupie?

ALICE: DOES Flo KNOW that you have 3 wives?

BEN: Well, no, but . . . I don't see this is any of her business. (Gets a bleep on his pager). AHHH, I must go. This beeper is telling me that I have a telephone call in my very-own-car. (Shuts it off) Bless My Beeper! See you all later!
(Exits, leaving Alice speechless at the news)

Not sure if anyone wanted the actual scene, but at least you know what exactly ION cut. Maybe one day we'll see the shows completely UNCUT and a lot more will be seen.;)

;) No problem. We need to start a thread called "Tonight's Scenes That Were Cut From Ion" to fill everyone in-LOL

That's a great idea. lol You and Fred Scuttle certainly know more than anybody what was cut from the episodes. ;)

There was also a funny line (I didn't see you have it, maybe TNN cut it. It aired on E!), when Ben came into the diner, Mel said "Ben, how the hell are ya?", and Ben said "I am the hell fine"...his response always made me chuckle ;)
Anyway, I imagine JAlanRuss must have them all on tape. I taped them all when they were on E! and TNN, so, as long as I can find the tapes, I can always go back and reference them :) (I misplaced a bunch of my tapes, they're here somewhere, just not labeled very well and packed in a box. Right now, I have all the 1st-3rd seasons episodes handy, plus a few others, all from E!)

LOL- I love that line ("I am the Hell fine, Mr. Mel!")- Yeah, I have probably every episode on dvd-r (from vhs tapes) except for about 7 or 8 eps, all recorded from TNN. There are probably things shown on the E! versions that weren't on TNN and vice-versa. Years ago, I had tapes of the show from WGN (in the 80s), but they're long gone. Those were probably the best--- least cut ones.

I even have some on audio tape from like 1979 or 1980 when it used to air on CBS weekdays before The Price Is Right. I've got at least one from the 2nd season ("A Semi-Merry Christmas"), and a few from the 3rd season ("Take Him, He's Yours", "The Principal of the Thing", and "Sweet Charity"). They aren't uncut though. On "Take Him, He's Yours", the show started where Tommy comes in on the motor bike. There were several minutes of dialog before that (which was shown on E!). Some had the original opening, and some had the 4th season video, with the audio from the 1st season short version. That one was shown on E! and TNN a couple times...be interesting to see if ION shows that beginning on any of the episodes.

Interesting. That's probably when I FIRST saw Alice was in reruns (weekdays around 1980), and I remember it being on before Price Is Right too. I remember my aunt had it on (I was about 8) and she was laughing at the episode where Alice is robbed in the Diner ("Better Never Than Late"- season 3), especially when Alice is trying to psychoanalyze the crook, asking him what was his first mistake.

Robber: Picking this DINER to rob!

I really got into the show at that time and have been a fan ever since.
