I hated this episode!
1. It was cut to shreds and it was obvious.
2. The character of Jimmy Joe was completely unlikeable

I really love this episode. I couldn't remember what had been edited out though. The fact that he was annoying is what made it so damn funny to me.

The minute he walked into the diner in that fruity leotard, I was done. Plus, he fell in love with Alice right from the get go. He was a little too much to bear.

I missed it, I was stuck in traffic today. What was the episode about?

Flo's younger brother is in town for a rodeo and she decides to set him up with Alice without asking her. Jimmy Joe proposes to Alice and she says no, but despite that, tells everybody that they are going to get married.

 That's what made him so damn funny, the clothes he wore and the fact that he and Flo nearly talked the same. That actor really talks that way. In the movie PAPER MOON with Tatum and Ryan O'Neal, he has several scenes and he talks the exact same way!
I really like this episode. Seeing Alice get all scared when he pulled out his gun and shoot the rattler with the blank bullet, and how she went into his arms...she fell for it!

If you were paying attention during the frst season ;) The same actor appeared in a couple episodes as Bufurd. (he talked in that same outrageous southern accent in those episodes too, although he wasn't as "over the top"). He also used to do those Pace Picante sauce commercials back in the 80's.

I did pick up on that. He was a bit more likeable as Buford.

I did know that. I was going to make a thread "warning the others" of his arrival playing another character, but decided not to. Let them be surprised.

Jimmy Joe was great! Having an older sister myself, I could totally see the sibling relationship between JJ and Flo and how similar they are. :)
Though it did bug me they "re-used" him for this role, because I remembered him being on "Alice" before as a different character. (and btw, it's "Castleberry" ;) ).
1. It was cut to shreds and it was obvious.
Yeah, but that's every episode they air. ;) Regardless, this was a whole heck of a lot more enjoyable than that ridiculous "Stretch" episode IMO!

Yes, he does...I tried to remember where else I knew him from (besides previous "Alice"), and it finally hit me---he was on an episode of "Mama's Family", and he did talk that exact same way!
