By the power of Grayskull... Yada yada yada.

Joel Silver and Warner Bros are the latest producers and stars to attempt to harness the power of the Masters of the Universe, acquiring the rights to the popular '80s cartoon and toy hero He-Man and the rest of his scantily dressed friends.

The plan, as you might imagine, would be to turn the character into a live action feature star.

The story revolves around Prince Adam, son of the rulers of Eternia, a man capable of harnessing the powers of Grayskull to become the slightly stronger and slightly differently dressed He-Man. He-Man was accompanied by allies including Man-at-Arms and Teela, as well as his trusty sidekick Cringer, a giant feline capable of becoming Battle Cat in the midst of He-Man's own transformation. They faced off against Skeletor and the various forces attempting to claim the power of Grayskull for themselves.

The series premiered with a line of toys in the early '80s and expanded into a comic book series, several animated incarnations, the "She-Ra" spin-off and the 1987 feature "Masters of the Universe," in which Dolph Lundgren played He-Man and Frank Langella was Skeletor.

The new Silver-produced feature will be adapted by Justin Marks. The industry trade papers report that the new take on the material will turn Prince Adam into a struggling warrior who becomes the last hope of Eternia.

The project is unconnected to Fox 2000's recent attempt to mount a "He-Man" feature directed by John Woo.

Silver's list of upcoming projects includes "The Invasion," "The Brave One," "Fred Claus" and "Speed Racer."

what would be the difference between this version and the crap one that had dolph lundgren and courtney cox arquette in it?

i was never a fan of he-man, but of thundercats instead. that was a cool cartoon. i'd rather watch a good, live action version of thundercats: the movie than he-man

Wow, I'm absolutely dating myself on this: but I LOVED that show when I was a kid! And as awful as it sounds, I'd definately go see it! This was so my generation. I just would have to. The movie would probably be absolute cr@p, but this is cr@p from my childhood. But I'll only see it if they bring in Prince Adam's twin sister, Adora, aka SHE-RA!

God, how sad is it that I remember that?
