Brian Damage 05-23-2007, 10:39 AM Music mogul Simon Cowell has stunned American Idol fans by revealing he's quitting the show in three years time.
The show's Mr. Nasty insists he won't be signing up for more episodes of the talent show after completing the 10th season of the TV phenomenon.
He tells news show Extra, "I'll have done 10 (seasons) and your time's up. It's time then to do something new. I think it's time to bring in new people...Ten years is a long time."
And as for who he'd pick to replace him on the show, Cowell has one name in mind: “Donald Trump.”

He is American Idol. It is like Bob Barker retiring from the Price is Right. It will not be the same.
Brent88 05-23-2007, 11:25 AM The show will be dead when he leaves. The ratings are already going down with him still there...
I Love Lamp 05-23-2007, 12:57 PM Well, along with Simon, the show itself has had its time, too. It's been a really long run and the fire's burning out. We've obviously seen that this season. The show is overexposing itself, and the contestants weren't even as good as before. I think there's kinda been a falling-out since Bo and Carrie's season. Last year was good, but they keep getting worse. They should quit while they're ahead.
EmoJoe 05-23-2007, 03:56 PM the show is going to be dead in 3 years anyway. it's already started it's downfall. it's pretty clear that Season 5 was the peak and 6 is the start of it's downfall. Seasons 4 and 5 were clearly the two best seasons (for me anyway).
BTW, three years from now = Season 9, not Season 10. i really doubt AI is going to still be popular in S10.

I agree.

Meh, all they'll have to do is find another British guy with an nasty attitude. Apparently there's quite a few of them around. Seems like all of those "talent" type shows have to have the token nasty Brit(or Australian works too) on the panel. I think it is a prerequisite for starting one of those shows now.

Another British Guy? After 10 seasons???-lol why would they do something like that
PrettyinPink55 05-23-2007, 10:52 PM I'd like to see if Idol is still going strong after 10 seasons.

Don't think it will.
TVFactFan 05-24-2007, 06:08 PM Don't think it will.
WHY NOT?
Ireneparalegal 05-24-2007, 06:10 PM I'm sick of british guys coming on as hosts of shows on primetime ever since Simon debuted on the air.
Good Riddance Simon.
Brian Damage 05-24-2007, 06:24 PM Don't think it will.
Something tells me it will be around. Perhaps you are just growing older and are tiring of it. I am sure there will be a whole new crop of kids that get into it.
EmoJoe 05-24-2007, 06:31 PM WHY NOT?
it's season 6 and it's already starting it's downfall. unless the next few years are REALLY, REALLY good, i don't think it'll make it past 10 seasons. it just gets old after a while. besides, if simon is gone then the show will really die.
