View Full Version : Deceased celebrities whose autographs you wished you had...
DYNAMIC D 05-22-2007, 08:38 AM It happens to the best of all autograph collectors, whether he/she was gone before or during our time. Here is my list...
Meredith MacRae -- One of THE most beautiful ladies God created. I wrote to her twice; the first time I got a RTS because the address was no longer valid. The second time came in 1999, just before it was publicly announced that she had surgery for a brain tumor. Ever since she left us in 2000, I have shed a tear inside for her every day
Del Shannon -- Not to long after his death, I heard "Keep Searchin'" for the first time and was knocked out! I kept asking myself after that: "Why did he do what he did?"
Gwen Verdon -- Didn't know much about her until I saw her on repeats of "The Ed Sullivan Show". On one show she did a song from "Sweet Charity" and on another she, along with two other female dancers, danced to a mod-styled tune. What a dancer and babe she was!

catlover79 05-22-2007, 09:34 AM The Bewitched cast - Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, Agnes Moorehead, David White, Paul Lynde, etc., etc. Jack Soo, Ron Carey and James Gregory from Barney Miller - I would've loved their autographs too.
I agree with everyone else's choices above, too. Actually, I did write John Ritter c/o 8 Simple Rules in early 2003 and got an autographed picture in May 2003 - then a few months later he was gone.
What a good question - I'm sure I'll think of more later.

Wow, Monika, lucky you! John Ritter is on my list of people whose autograph I wish I'd gotten. And Brandon Lee. Can you post the pic of John's autograph?
And while I know it's not as good as getting the signature in person, I DO have a couple of autographed checks from Elizabeth Montgomery which I just might be willing to part with. PM me if you're interested--maybe we can work something out! :D

Madness 05-24-2007, 01:42 AM I wrote John Ritter twice and twice he sent out. The first time an index card, then the next time he sent out a pre-print but it definitely was still really cool!:D
I tried Don Knotts several times but I never got anywhere. Same with Tom Poston.:(
As for another, I would've liked Michael Landon's autograph but I was too young to truly appreciate what a great actor he really was.
Very good topic!:)

Aaliyahi wish i had bobby van larry blyden peter tomarken and johnny olsen i have most of the others .i dont have a tom poston but they are really easy to find thru reputable dealers at prices anyone can afford even with his recent passing john daily is also still very affordable just make sure if buying one you ask for john charles daily instead of just john daily so that they wont think you mean the golf pro by the same name don knotts is found in all price ranges depending on the item .dorothy killgallen is somewhat pricey usally starting at about 65 dollars on up arlene francis and kitty cariisle can be found for pocket change because these ladies were wonderful to there fans and signed thousands of autographs throuout ther lives gene rayburn is somewhat harder to find because he had a so so attitude about signing autographs but they do turn up once in a while sorry for such a long post but i love sharing the info that i know about autographs

catlover79 07-07-2007, 12:52 PM I was just watching Walk the Line again this week, and it got me thinking. I would've loved to have gotten both Johnny and June's autographs. What a wonderful couple. They were so in love and it showed.
HuntingtonM15 07-07-2007, 02:01 PM Bette Davis has long been one of my dream autographs, and I just got hers yesterday.

Mikado 07-07-2007, 03:41 PM Which ones will make the most $ if i sell them? :p
Seriously though, the only famous autograph I have is in a Dale Carnegie book ( Its signed by Carnegie, on a seperate piece of paper to the book's original owner )....I have no idea if it's worth anything but, I checked on an autograph website, and it is deffinately genuine!
Scoobiedoo30 07-07-2007, 03:55 PM Al Lewis

catlover79 07-29-2007, 03:10 PM Vic Tayback, who played Mel Sharples on Alice. From reading various articles on Alice websites, he seemed like such a cool guy. He was very down to earth and great to his fans. I even saw one autographed picture online and he wrote "stow it!" before his name.
Scoobiedoo30 07-29-2007, 03:17 PM Mel was the best on Alice
Mikado 07-29-2007, 03:20 PM I don't "get" the whole idea of collecting celeb signatures ( Well, maybe on a large cheque, paid to me  ) ...Seriously, can someone here explain to me what the attraction is? I'm not making fun, Id just like to see things from your perspectives :) So, please tell me.
Obviously, some people collect sigs to sell for profit, but, i want to hear from those of you who collect them for yourselves.
