View Full Version : Little Ricky's birthday party dilemna
Ireneparalegal 05-21-2007, 05:26 PM Why was it such a dilemna?????:crazy: Ok, don't have the party on a Saturday Lucy, have it on Sunday. Did SUNDAY not exist in their days of the week. Ok, so the kids have school off on Saturday, they also don't have school on Sunday.
I love Lucy, but she was being rebellious and childish abt the whole party thing. Her resorting to what time was Little Ricky born etc. was soooooo childish. :lol:

That was kind of funny, I guess everyone thought Saturday was the best, most popular day to have a party. And too, Sunday was considered church day for most people.:)

I never seen or heard the Ricardos mention church. :lol: :lol: So, there goes that theory. A good try though. :lol:
comedyfreak 05-22-2007, 05:26 AM A Saturday bday party is better, that way you can relax on Sunday.

But the problem here is that Lucy and Caroline were both inviting the same children. Therefore, since it wasn't right to split the guest list (that would not be fair to the children) it would only make sense for either Lucy or Caroline to change the party to Sunday. Since Caroline already passed out the invitations, then it was up to Lucy to do the right thing and have the party changed to Sunday.
Madame X 05-22-2007, 03:53 PM Yep, I agree. Lucy should have changed her party. Sunday would have been ok, "what the hey!" As for her being selfish on her outlook on life, she had to out-do Caroline and Little Stevie. Little kids don't really care when their party is, as long as there is one. The adults went over the edge.
Lucy=boo
Caroline=yeah, for giving in
Superman=you're everyone's hero, thanks!
They could have combined the two parties and split the expenses. But that would have been too easy and not nearly as funny.

Everyone knows that Caroline liked to brag and was a snob, I'm on Lucy's side on this one. She was planning it first.
Stevie Appleby 06-06-2007, 08:32 PM As you recall, it wouldn't have mattered to me what day my stupid little party would have been on. I preferred to blow off my party and go to little Ricky's party if it meant I could hang out with Superman. I'm glad my mom came to her senses and let me go to Ricky's party!

She may have been planning it, but obviously she didn't mention it to her friend Caroline or else this whole fiasco wouldn't have happened. Seems neither lady talked to each other abt their "plans". If they each have sons in the same class and they are planning on a birthday party to invite those classmates, it only makes sense that one of them should have mentioned their plans, since Ricky and Stevie are good friends and share a birthday so close together.
One can plan a party, but it is all abt getting the invitations sent out.
airhead 07-06-2007, 04:01 PM It was kinda funny how they made a big deal out of it.

yes it was.:lol:
Stevie Appleby 07-06-2007, 06:41 PM Hey! At the time it was very important to me, Ricky and our mothers. After all, we were both the only children in our families and my mother Carolyn and Lucy were always competing over something or other. I still maintain that I'm glad my mother finally took the high road and let Lucy have the party even though she lied about Superman. Thank God Ricky Ricardo got him to show up afterall. I wouldn't have missed meeting Superman for the world.
Katya 07-22-2007, 10:16 AM Sunday was a much more sacred day back then most stores were closed,mostley religious stuff on the radio ect.I can remember when they started playing non religious music on the radio for the first time on sundays it was a shock-although a good one:D .
Nowdays kids have parites on sundays of course.I think having it on different days so close together dosen't always work out because the second one might not be so atteneded.Of course a double party would have been the best answer but then the idea was Superman was coming to Ricky's party not Stevive's.

Ireneparalegal 07-22-2007, 07:39 PM That's another thing, Lucy should never have told Little Ricky abt Superman coming until she was certain Ricky could get him to come. I mean, sure Ricky would ask, that wasn't the problem, it was whether George Reeves aka Superman was going to be able to show up.
