Has anybody noticed that the opening introduction to the Seavers was a little cruel and much more sarcastic. Not to mention Maggie Seaver seem to whine about wishing to be at home and in the other pilot with Tracey Gold, Maggie seem to whine less than she did in the unaired pilot. Has anybody noticed that at all?

I take it the cast members were different in the unaired pilot. Who was cast as Carol instead of Tracey Gold?

Elizabeth Ward played the original Carol, but did not test well, so they replaced her with, obviously, Tracy Gold. :)

i thought that the other girl just basically couldn't play carol becuase of some obligation and somehow tracey landed the part, in the ACTUAL pilot that aired on tv the same old girl is in the jail scene and tracey is no where to be found.

I thought it was weird they use that jail scene with Elizabeth Ward...talk about deception there.

I wonder if part of the problem is that Elizabeth Ward wasn't considered conventionally attractive enough? I guess what I'm saying that it would've been hard to believe that she could be Alan Thicke and Joanna Kerns' (Growing Pains was perhaps the rare sitcom in which both parents could easily be considered "good looking" or ascetically pleasing) daughter.
