On The Bob Newhart Show, Bob and his therapy group went on TV to discuss their problems within the group. The entire group clammed up on the live broadcast, leaving Bob to carry the whole show. Needless to say, it did not go well.

Over at Sanford & Son, the Sanfords decided to merge their junk business with Julio's. They decided to do a commercial, and everyone wanted to be the star. The commercial shoot turned into a free for all that ended with the 3 men dumping the director into the pool.

Of course, every episode of Home Improvement's Tool Time saw some misfortune befall Tim. Then again, they were usually all his fault.

There was another episode of BNS where he got a seemingly innnocent invitation to appear on a talk show to discuss his field of work and the interviewer turned out to be a nasty and snarky woman and tried to expose him as a con-man and "flim-flammer."

"Ruth Corley: It's been said that today's psychologist is nothing more than a con man, a snake-oil salesman flimflamming innocent people, peddling cures for everything from nail biting to a lousy love life--and I agree. We'll ask Dr. Hartley to defend himself after these messages. "

You're right, friendsfan, that was a classic BNS. It's called "Who Is Mr. X" and has the famous line about the nun who wants to go 50/50 on a hitman!! There is commentary on the DVDs on both episodes: the first with Bob Newhart and Jack Riley, the latter with Bob Newhart and Marcia Wallace.

There was a last season episode of Amen where Thelma and Amelia have a free for all on a cooking show. The fur was flying.

Lucy Does a TV Commericial on I Love Lucy, and when she and Ricky go on a gameshow. And when she and Ethel market a salad dressing made from a secret ingredient.

Bewitched-Darrin's client can't be seen on camera and Tabitha's debut on the Ho-Ho The Clown Show

Bewitched season 7 or 8 When Endora does a TV commercial, Sam pops in and the two turn into each other for a commerical about Bobbins Candy.

That Girl-Ann shoots commercials that humiliate her.

On All In The Family, a TV newswoman comes to their home to interview Edith. And of course Archie keeps trying to get in on it and the woman has to really get after him. I think he actually got his feelings hurt.

On The Brady Bunch the Bradys were in a commercial for a detergent, and their actions drove the director crazy and he gave up on them.

On Perfect Strangers Lydia at the Chicago Chronicle had a fear of cameras. I can't remember what she was on TV for specifically.

On Step By Step Mrs. Poole (or whoever the neighbor was in the early seasons) had a cooking show in one episode, and everything went wrong.

on THE ODD COUPLE once, Oscar was hosting a talk show when Felix inturuppted it to introduce Myrna doing a dance.
And, then there's the episode where Oscar and Felix were on PASSWORD (which Jack & Tony were really on shortly after that episode aired).
I think that episode's avilible on the DVD as one of their favorites.
And another time they were on LET'S MAKE A DEAL (a game show in the 70s)

On an episode of "I Dream of Jeannie" Paul Lynde guest stars as a director and he wants to shoot a movie with Tony and Roger. Basically a day in the life of astronauts. What happens is that Roger turns out to be the worst actor and Paul Lynde wants him off the movie. He can't do anything right. Roger overhears Paul's character and Dr. Bellows talking about making Tony a star and Roger thinks it's about him and starts acting like a hotshot. Tony is elected to be the one to tell Roger that it's not him that is the star but Tony himself but he can't do it. Dr. Bellows comes after Tony has left and thinks that Tony has already told him and tells him he's sorry that he's the worst actor. Roger is crushed but in the end it turns out that Roger is the one elected to go to Hollywood because he is funny. He changes his mind when he realizes that he has to sign a seven year contract which means he won't be able to go to the moon like he wanted to.
Tony and Jeannie are so happy because they didn't want him to go. Roger finds out who his co star would have been, a beautiful woman, and he changes his mind but it's too late by then. LOL.
It was a great episode. :D

Isn't there an episode of Cheers where Cliff Clavin is on Jeopardy?

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Hilary's talk show
