Hi, I´m a first time poster and an avid reader of the forums for some time until finally I decided to become an active member of the boards. A few days ago, I was watching a very old VHS tape that I found in my basement. At the beginning of that tape, there is a very old UM episode (I think from the 1989 season). The following cases are featured:

a)Doyle Wheeler vs Donovan Jacobs case.
b)UPDATE: The capture of Charles Wigman(sp) in a Puerto Vallarta Hotel.
c)Rachel Runyan´s kidnapping and murder with a chilling message found 2 years later.
d)The search for Jim Flannes, who is wanted for embezzling 4 million dollars from 100 retirees in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
e)The dragnet for Salvatore Michael Caruana, a drug smuggler with connections to organized crime, and also the following fugitives: Douglas Alan Costa, Lewis Michael Geiger, Lavada Floyd and Richard DeWayne Green.

The rest of the tape is full of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies??. I really don´t know who made this tape. Anyway, Do you know of any updates to these cases, especially Caruana´s and the other drug smugglers´cases?

I have just watched the Salvatore Caruana segment on CD's volume 7 collection and the only fugitive that is the same is Lavada Floyd, the other 3 are different. Their names are: Richard Joseph Alvarado, William Herman McGeeHee, and Alvaro Zapata. Are there 2 different versions of the Caruana case featured on UM?

Seriously, phillipscurve please check your basement tapes. If you have the Todd McAfee segment, you will already be a legend on this forum.

Although I haven't seen it, I suspect the version of the Caruana segment circulating on crystaldawn's DVDs was sourced from a tape of the April 11, 1990 broadcast - which was a rerun of the November 8, 1989 episode. However, it is important to remember that some UM episodes were changed when they were rerun, even on NBC. The fact that this gentleman's tape has some different segments would lead me to believe that he has the earlier November 8 broadcast, and not the rerun version that was telecast in April 1990.

Its one of those rare UM segments aired on Lifetime that none of us have managed to get a hold of so there are many of us on here who would love to see it.

I don´t know how, but I forgot to mention one important thing:The whole tape, including the UM episode, is spanish dubbed!!, and the episode is not from NBC, but a channel called "Infinito" (Infinity), that deals with psychics and the paranormal(in the Spanish language). I found this tape along with several others (a lot) in a bookshelf in a "hidden" room of the basement, that I have just discovered in my new home. I moved about a month ago. I ignore who the tapes belong to, (I´ve never met the previous owners). From some tv commercials taped during the broadcast of the UM episode, a "psychic" Congress for example, I think the tape was made in April-May 2001. There are a lot of tapes though, so I´ll keep you informed if there is more UM material on those cassettes, and if this material is in English or another language.

I may have seen it. Some details sound familiar but that was too long ago.

It appears that the segment aired as part of an episode that was largely comprised of repeat stories. Therefore, Lifetime probably didn't see a need to purchase the episode.

On eBay I've discovered it's actually better to start the bidding at virtually the minimum. I use $1. No reserve or Buy It Now. The low minimum bid gets dozens of people looking at it and putting it on their watch list. Your auction looks like the place to be. As long as you've listed it well and included a good picture(s), the group of watchers eventually become bidders, competing against each other. They don't want to forfeit all the time expenditure by not bidding.

I've found the same, usually, when I post items. Of course, it helps to have items people want to post for. Doesn't ebay also end up taking a smaller fee if you begin the listing at a cheaper price? Their initial insertion fee is based on the price of the listing, I believe.
