TeeVeeCloset 05-18-2007, 09:57 AM According to the May 11 edition of Entertainment Weekly, WKRP season one appears as #18 in top DVD sales....an impressive number, even with all the music clearing issues, it looks like this one is still a sales winner!

thats great news:cool:
i think its because the reruns are no longer shown on tv:(
i'm already looking forward to buying the second season
catlover79 05-18-2007, 07:38 PM That's nice to hear. I'm going to buy the set to give my dad on Father's Day.
Fixxer315 05-18-2007, 09:35 PM That's very good to hear. Even with the music clearing issues, it would be great to see the remainder of the series on DVD.
I remember reading an interview with Loni Anderson in which she said she'd love to be back to do commentary on future seasons, and that she thought that if this season sold well enough, Fox might be more willing to try and get some of the original music. SInce Hugh Wilson was at least somewhat concerned about the depth of the musical replacement (although he was satisfied with the results), let's hope that is a signal that we might get something closer to the original series--or at least the syndicated versions.
treky 05-19-2007, 11:33 PM aparenntly, people don't mind the fact that the episodes aren't complete. Well; let's hope we see seasons 2 and 3 soon, and they do a better job on them!
treky 06-01-2007, 03:28 AM let's also hope that, if they do release the remaining seasons and do a better job on them than they did on season 1, that "THE NEW WKRP IN CINCINATI" won't be far behind it!
I bought Season 1 and hope to get the rest when they're released. I agree that the music was a dissapointment and I'm hoping they can do better on the rest.
Adamantium 06-01-2007, 04:38 PM It seems that FOX just didn't have faith in the first season. That's why they didn't bother to get all (or most of) the music rights. However, now that the first season has been a success, maybe they'll try to edit less in the upcoming sets, because they can expect high sales. And maybe (who knows, TV on DVD is still a new medium) they'll re-release season one with more of the original music in it. But that's just wishful thinking.
treky 06-02-2007, 01:29 AM yea, I read that the shows from MTM productions generally don't do that good on DVD. That's why we haven't seen any more releases of THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW and THE BOB NEWHART SHOW in a while.
I bought my WKRP set on Ioffer.com.
Great quality, original music although the episodes are edited down to about 22-23 minutes. Still a very great set.
I`m pleased with my set as I like the original 1978-82 music I remember.
catlover79 04-10-2008, 10:05 AM Anyone heard any news about Season 2??
I have the entire series from a syndicated TV station in Tennesee from the 1980`s. Even though edited, I have all the original music.
Gork Mania 05-05-2008, 10:44 PM Bring on Season 2! I am about finished with Season 1.
ftroopfan 05-07-2008, 03:48 PM I'd like to see season 2 since I have already viewed all of season 1. I hope since the first season did so well, it will influence the dvd company to put out the second season soon.
