Ireneparalegal 05-17-2007, 11:04 PM Do you think it is the American way to molest, rape, sexually harass or abduct girls?
Anything to get those bastards off the street is alright with me.

Thank you. Same here.
phoebe7165 05-17-2007, 11:24 PM I love this show, only because it sticks it to the perverts. I just 'love' some of the lame excuses for showing up - my favorite one being "Oh, I just came here to warn her", even though they show up with condoms, alcohol, handcuffs, rope, etc....
And it kills me when some of these guys have seen To Catch a Predator and they still show up!!
As far as are they lured in there? They shouldn't be on the chat rooms talking the way they do in the first place!! And showing pictures of 'themselves'. Absolutely disgusting!
Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 05-17-2007, 11:25 PM Thank you. Same here.
Dead people scare me to begin with, that's just nasty!
Chelsea 05-17-2007, 11:39 PM 6. No offensive usernames, avatars, or signatures - they will be removed without warning.
Awsi Dooger 05-18-2007, 03:56 AM Naturally I show up too late for the offensive avatar.
It was funny on one of the early shows when one of the guys was wearing a USC baseball hat. The USC forums were all upset about that, worried about association to the school. Let's see, there was O.J.. I think an aspiring pedophile is still a distant second.
I wish they would change hosts, or rotate several. Chris Hansen's approach is getting a bit tedious. "Have a seat." "What are you doin' here?" "You're free to go." I'd like to see hosts who are more subtle or more confrontational. I realize it's not an entertainment program but the scenario never changes. He reads their chat script and the guy says he's stupid and mumbles through some excuses or weak denials. The only major departure was the guy who shot himself, but that was at his home.
I'm going to preface what I have to say with this: I feel that child molestors and those who prey on children should be locked up for life, no deposit no return. I say that first because when I voice my opinion on To Catch a Predator or Perverted Justice, I'm usually accused of trying to protect the monsters who prey on our children.
I have problems with both TCAP and PJ. TCAP is very much for entertainment. PJ, I just don't like. In theory, what they do is a good thing, but I think it's best left in the hands of trained Law Enforcement and not in the hands of internet vigilates. They used to do some highly unethical things such as posting the names, addressess, employer names, phone numbers and in some cases the names of the schools the perv's kids attend. Now, some of you are probably saying so what. What did the child of the internet perv do to deserve harassment? What did the employer of the perv do? The wife or husband? By all means, go after the pervert, but don't post all of their information online so anybody can do their worst. I don't care for their tactics and I feel that NBC encourages them. I'd feel much better if trained LE were conducting the stings and appropriate arrests. Yes, I know LE is there, but they aren't the ones posing as kids on NBC. Untrained people are. I want the pervs locked up, not getting off on some technical issue because the proper procedures haven't been followed.
freshwater 05-18-2007, 04:11 PM They should find a 14 year old willing to actually have sex with these guys so that the cops can charge them with more than just attempted......whatever it's called.
Ireneparalegal 05-18-2007, 06:31 PM They should find a 14 year old willing to actually have sex with these guys so that the cops can charge them with more than just attempted......whatever it's called.
WTF???????????? WHAT A F*CKING STUPID THING TO POST!
Tighthead 05-18-2007, 07:32 PM I am no defender of the pervs, but somehow I get the sense that the PJ volunteers are a little twisted themselves.
kadrmas15 05-18-2007, 07:57 PM Yes I agree that comment about lets get a 14 year old to have sex with these guys so they can be charged with more than attempted lewd acts on a minor. You are joking right? I would hope so, that is just pretty sick.
Well I agree I like to catch a predator but I think they need to shake things up a bit. Chris Hansen was entertaining the first few times but his act has begun to wear thin. I think they are doing a good thing with these specials although I am not the biggest fan of perverted justice because I think that while they mean well they take things too far sometimes.
justins5256 05-19-2007, 12:11 PM My friend's mother's co-worker's husband was actually busted in one of the stings.
Anything that can be done to stop pedophiles from soliciting and molesting kids is okay with me.
freshwater 05-21-2007, 12:36 PM Of course I'm joking. Come on.
Pretty soon the whole country is going to be in prison as a result of one Dateline sting or another. Then Chris Hansen will be President.
It would be great if unbeknownst to Chris Hansen, another Dateline contributor did one of these stings and got Chris Hansen to show up at the house. Now that would be Must-See-TV.
SiberianKiss 05-23-2007, 02:14 AM Chris Hansen, like most people, probably doesn't like having sex with little children.
Other dateline stings, identity theft and car thieves. yeah how horrible to catch some criminals (catching ID thieves is extremely difficult, that was interesting) and have an entertaining show with high ratings in the process. How awful of Dateline!
I love the To Catch a Predator series. It's hilarious when they like sit down and have a drink when Chris is talking to them. Or when they're like "yeah I've seen the show!" Their excuses are so funny too. It's always the first time they ever did something like this or they were just showing up to warn the child. I'm always amazed at some of these really ugly old guys that show up. Do they actually think somebody likes them? That somebody finds them attractive? How dumb must they be? They think ANYBODY wants to have sex with them? Unreal how stupid they are. I love that they're exposed on national TV too. Double whammy, go to prison (hopefully) and get exposed to the world as a child molester in the process. Hey sometimes one of those sick f*cks is there to meet a little boy so it can be a triple whammy! They're now outta the closet as well unwillingly hahahaha!
kadrmas15 06-29-2007, 09:16 PM Well I found this story on To Catch a Predator while looking on Courttv.com, pretty interesting:

There is a thread on this already on CHIT/CHAT.
BarneyFife 03-16-2008, 11:59 PM Great show, but they keep repeating the same ones over and over. I want to see some new ones. Are they still making new episodes of this show?
veggie-tari-jenn 08-31-2008, 10:24 PM Actually Pedator was axed...there was a lawsuit filed by he sister of a 56 year old district attorney who shot himself in the head after he was profiled on the show....the show was dropped after the network settled the 105 million lawsuit for an undisclosed amount....the peacock was afraid that other deaths or lawsuits might come up and didnt want to take a chance....Dateline aired the final predator segment last winter.
wiseguy182 06-09-2013, 01:29 AM I catch this show for a few minutes here and there. I love it when Hansen tells the predators they can leave, so they go outside only to have LE pounce on them. That is great.
wiseguy182 11-05-2013, 02:22 AM did anyone see the one where that guy came into the house and started stripping off his clothes right then and there? I wanted to kick that guy in the stomach.
MegtheEgg86 11-05-2013, 07:41 PM did anyone see the one where that guy came into the house and started stripping off his clothes right then and there? I wanted to kick that guy in the stomach.
I saw that one only once when the show was still being produced. I had similar sentiments.
I'm typically one to carefully consider most sides of a given situation, and I'm apt to believe there are actually very, very few absolutely bad apples in the world. But the men on this show I have pretty much zero sympathy for. I do not feel sorry for a grown man who chooses to take advantage of children. I do not feel sorry for them when they cry on air and talk about how their lives are ruined. I do not feel sorry for them when they are brought before a judge and are sentenced.
As far as the lawsuit is concerned, a suicide is always a tragedy, no matter who commits it. I'm also of the mind that Perverted Justice could stand some serious ethics training. However, neither the show, nor NBC, nor Perverted Justice had a thing to do with the gentleman's suicide. At all.
I can understand moral discomfort over getting some sort of amusement out of another person's bad choices. What I do not understand is how any of these men deserve any sympathy (and there IS a small, albeit growing, "sex offenders rights" movement). I question some of PJ's practices, but the man "captured" is not the reason why--it's the privacy and safety of those in that man's life.
wiseguy182 11-06-2013, 06:49 AM I will admit I'm surprised by many of the men that show up. I was expecting mostly creepy old guys, but most of them are actually fairly young, 20's - 30's. They're all, however, very, very stupid.

That's just it....the majority of these pedophiles are probably in their 20's and 30's and look like everyday guys you see on the street, not the stereotypical image of a drooling, leering pervert in a trenchcoat hiding behind a bush. And that makes it a lot more scary.

Yes. One of my friends posted this on Facebook today and I think it illustrates that point pretty well. Due to just the facts of the research below, it was hard for me to read:
http://www.christianpost.com/news/20000-child-sex-predators-approached-this-10-y-o-girl-called-sweetie-online-but-she-isnt-real-108227/cpf
"'It is terrifying. It's really scary. It breaks your stereotypical image of a predator. Because before, I thought they were all 45-year-old males with very long coats and a little bit dodgy,' he said. 'Now, it appears that these guys have normal jobs, normal families, can be my age, can be older, can be younger. The diversity is enormous.'"
wiseguy182 11-07-2013, 08:46 AM I think Chris Hansen's "how ya doin?" approach is a little too polite for this show. I think if they ever bring it back, John Walsh would be a better fit. I think his schedule will probably allow it. Sadly, I fear nothing much ever became of "John Walsh Investigates" other than the pilot episode.
wiseguy182 11-14-2013, 06:00 AM I'm also really shocked at the professions of a lot of these predators. Firefighters, military men, people that were considered heroes at one point. Now they have the pedophile term attached to their name, which is just about as bad as it gets.
And yes, the excuses are all really lame. I really hate the ones that don't stick around and just try to head for the exits. NUH-UH. DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!
Oh, and did anyone see that really ugly guy who got busted TWICE!!. He showed up, got busted, had to file a court appearance or something, then turned up at another sting in a different part of the state THE VERY NEXT DAY!! What a sick, twisted...guy needs to be locked up forever.

Yes, I remember him. Even in a parade of losers, he stood out.
TheCars1986 11-14-2013, 05:13 PM The ones who made no bones about why they were there were the ones who made me sick the most. I did enjoy seeing one suspect get tasered after he failed to listen to the cops continually yelling for him to throw up his hands.
JamesG 11-14-2013, 08:07 PM I loved hearing the various excuses for why they would show up at the house:
Hansen: "How old did she say she was?"
Perv: "21"
Hansen: "Want to try again?"
Perv: ........
Hansen: "It says here she said she was 12"
Perv: "Someone hacked my computer."

I remember him too! Specifically how much he howled when he was tased. I think even one of the police officers basically told him to shut up.
I agree: those guys are by far the most sickening.

My favorite is "Oh, I was coming here to warn her that she should be more careful on the Internet." Simultaneously lame AND scary.

Most of them say they are just there to "hang out" with their "friend" they met online. Was there ever any women featured on the show? I can't remember...

Yeah, and it makes you wonder about some of the guys that admit to actually seeing the show before WHILE CONTINUING to give that SAME excuse. Mental giants they typically are not.
I've never seen a woman on the show before.

Watched an episode today where a guy shows up and when Hansen comes out he goes, "Oh I knew what this was, I was just testing it out"...what an idiot! The guy was a volunteer at a church. My favorites are always the "religious" ones who get caught being anything but religious.
wiseguy182 04-05-2015, 08:07 AM Here's an update on Ryan McIntosh. Not sure how many of you remember him, but he was the high-end dog boutique owner (whatever that is) who likes boys and likes 'em young. He was busted in the Fort Meyers, FL sting, and claimed he wanted to be a "mentor" and "big brother" to the kid he was going to have sex with. (sure). He was also one of the ones that had admitted to seeing the program before. He was sentenced to 404 days in jail for this offense, which occurred in 2006.
Well, he re-offended in 2008 (just one year after his release) for the same damn offense. Not long after that, he was arrested AGAIN for a DUI and damage to property. What a loser.

Yea I agree. How about the "Jesus Rocks" guy or the few guys who always try to bring religion into it when Hansen is questioning them?
Hambone2421 07-06-2015, 10:33 AM Also, not sure if anyone has seen this or not, but Chris Hansen started a Kickstarter to get more episodes of "To Catch a Predator" filmed. Apparently it worked as he is currently shooting "Hansen vs Predator" and hopes to sell it to a network soon.
