Sweet. I can't wait to watch 8 Simple Rules again. Even with it coming to DVD, I'm glad to see it in syndication again.

This could just be the best news for ABC Family we have ever gotten! They are really making drastic changes in the right direction! The highlights include fading out dramas in favor of sitcoms (and good ones at that), bringing Boy Meets World back to its classic time slot, getting rid of Sabrina for 9am (I was getting sick of it), and bringing Sister, Sister and 8 Simple Rules. Plus, we still get Family Matters at its classic slot, plus Step by Step, so its all good.

This is great news! I could care less about Sister Sister, but it will be great to see 8 Simple Rules again. :) I'm especially looking forward to seeing episodes from the first season. I've only seen about 10 season 1 episodes.

Good news for 8 Simple Rules fans. I always knew that show would end of up on ABC Family. It is absolutely perfect for that channel. :)

By the way, everyone watch Kaley's new sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, on CBS this fall. It looks terrific. :D

I have a soft spot for Sister, Sister. I'm about the same age as the Mowry twins and could relate to the stories they did about high school life, dating, driving tests, and the like. The ABC episodes were much better than the WB episodes, but that's just my opinion.

This sucks! 8 Simple Rules is a good show, but they still could have kept 7th Heaven on in the day. Air it at 11:00AM or Noon instead of the extra hour of Gilmore Girls and Full House.

Scoobiedoo30
05-18-2007, 12:49 PM
You know it almost going to be a year since 8 Simple Rules was taken off The WB Daytime schedule September 15, 2006 was the last time 8 Simple Rules was on at 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm Central Time

Pavan
05-24-2007, 02:38 PM
A little change:
7th Heaven will also air Saturday mornings, in addition to its Sunday mornings slots:

Saturdays starting June 16
7:00AM 7th Heaven (replaces Family Matters 2x)
8:00AM 7th Heaven (replaces Step by Step 2x)

Back-to-back Family Matters and Step by Step are scheduled on June 2 and 9 now instead of a movie.

I am very happy that they kept Family Matters on at the same times. It's a ritual of mine when I come home in the afternoon to watch the show for an hour. I think that ABC Family should acquire "Blossom" and put it in the 5PM hour. Then I think this would be the perfect schedule.

Scoobiedoo30

thanks for the update

I agree. Has Family Matters ever moved from that 1pm slot since it debuted? I just always remember watching it then, plus it must continue to garner good ratings. Now only if we could get a season release . . .

The 5pm hour should be filled with a sitcom. They have sitcoms all day from 12-8, with an airing of Gilmore Girls interrupting the schedule. I would just love to see BLossom there, then I could watch every show all day long.

Pavan
05-26-2007, 11:48 AM
Family Matters launched in the evening at 6-7pm I believe. It later moved to 1-2pm...it did leave for a brief period airing only 8-9am, but it returned shortly. It does decent for them in the 1-2pm hour. Gilmore Girls is their highest rated drama...no way it will move from its 5pm slot anytime soon. It has comedic elements to it, so it sort of fits the sitcom block.

i've always liked ABC Family. besides Full House which is on too much, they always balance their shows out nicely and (unless a show does REALLY badly), rarely give it truly bad treatment.

8 Simple Rules is funny and the only time i've seen it was when it aired on WB Daytime for a couple of months, so i might actually watch it on ABC Family.

I haven't seen Blossom since it orginally aired, it has been so long, I am guessing it is not showing anywhere right now? Addoing Blossom would be great since I want to see it again

I don't understand why they are airing "Grounded For Life" in the 7:00-8:00pm slot.

I thought that show didn't do well for them in the afternoon. So why air it in probably their best time slot?

Actually, that schedule sounds really good. I just wish they'd get rid of those infomercials. They have to realize that airing other shows can make them money too. Plus, I could watch ABC Family during the night sintead of sitting through Fresh Prince.

yankeesfan82
06-10-2007, 09:20 PM
Yes I agree get rid of the infomercials and relgious programming, except for The 700 Club. No, I don't like it, but unfortuantely they're stuck with it. Their was a stipultation in the contract when CBN (Pat Robertson) sold The Family Channel to FOX that whoever owns the network has to keep The 700 Club on the network and keep "Family" in the name.

But that reminds me. How many times a day do they have to show The 700 Club anyways? I mean it's on 3 times a day on ABC Family. It's on the religious network TBN several times a day. And it's on local stations in some areas including CBS TV 3 in Springfield, Massachusetts. (That dates back to CBS TV 3's days as a TBN owned and operated station).

JulieSomoski
06-11-2007, 11:38 AM
Is it on during latenight also? I thought they had to air it twice daily (once in the morning with a repeat in the evening). But still. That doesn't bother me much. That still has nothing to do with the informericials. How well can informericals at 3am really do?

Is it doing that poorly? Though, I know I enjoy watching sitcoms much more than dramas in the morning.

Why was 7th Heaven and Smallville off the lineup in the first place? Was it do to low airplays, or low ratings?

Pavan
06-21-2007, 11:58 PM
Both of those are no where near Gilmore's ratings. 7th Heaven is not a 7-9am type show, lol

Pav, when does ABCFAMILY lose the rights to "Step By Step?" I think they've had it longer than any other sitcom/drama on their schedule. Or is it a "Saved By The Bell" on TBS thing, where the show never leaves? LOL

So Step By Step has been on ABC Family for 6 year's

JulieSomoski
06-22-2007, 04:06 PM
That's quite a while. Longer than any other show, which is good since Family Matters and Boy Meets World usually did better than it originally. Pavan, do you know when the contracts for Family Matters, Boy Meets World, and full house are up? And will Sister, Sister still be around in the fall, or was this just a summer thing?

Dennis Dubois
06-22-2007, 09:30 PM
I'm really glad they are putting Family Matters back on weekends. I too wonder when FM expires, but Nick at Nite is supposed to get rights to it in March 2008 and I'm hearing something about a 2008 DVD release.

Thanks. That gives me a lot of time to record the whole series...even with those horrible edits, that seem to get worse each cycle. Oh well. It's better than nothing.....And I'm almost positive N@N will get the rights to Step By Step, when Family Matters becomes a huge hit for them.

Pavan
06-23-2007, 07:32 PM
I don't know when Family Matters expires. It could be shared when it comes to Nick at Nite next year, but it might not be either. The overall contract expires in March 2013, which is most likely just Nick at Nite.

Full House expires I think that year too (Oct. 2013) on ABC Family. Nick at Nite's is this fall, but they will likely renew.

No info on Boy Meets World or Sister Sister. Hogan Family is end of September 2009, though.

JulieSomoski
06-24-2007, 12:39 PM
I forgot all about the Hogan Family. Too bad they don't air that show. It seems like it's the only show on ABC Family that was never given a chance.

well we can still watch Sister Sister on WGN in September.

JulieSomoski
06-27-2007, 12:12 PM
Oh yeah, I forgot about WGN this fall! That's some good news at least. It's still too bad what ABC Family is doing with Sister, Sister. I was really enjoying it, and it was a nice change for the summer. But, Step by Step is still good to watch, and it's good we get more Sabrina plus Boy Meets World. I guess it's a win-lose situation.

It's ABC Family's own fault. They didn't advertise or promote Sister, Sister at all. Since it is a kid's show (even though I watch it) how are people supposed to know it's even on? So they moved it to 8am.

Scoobiedoo30
