Dr. House is on call Super Bowl Sunday: Fox has slated its No. 1 drama, "House," in the post-Super Bowl slot this January.
Nets usually wait until much closer to the Big Game before announcing which skein will get the plum time slot, but Fox was looking to make a big announcement at its upfront presentation Thursday afternoon. Fox Entertainment prexy Peter Liguori made the announcement while opening his speech at New York's City Center.

Before that, ABC aired "Grey's Anatomy" there, launching that show into the ratings stratosphere.

As a matter of fact, in recent years nets have used that time slot to help bump up promising new shows that are ready to explode. But "House," starring Hugh Laurie as a cranky doc, is already a mega hit -- even beginning to eclipse "American Idol."

News is also good for NBC Universal TV Studio, which produces the show. "House" airs Tuesdays at 9.

This is awesome news! I have no interest in the Super Bowl other than the commercials now I have a reason to stay up.
