View Full Version : Let me see if I have this correct, Bob Barker was the host of TPIR for 35 years and
TVFactFan 05-17-2007, 01:37 PM Tonight's tribute on CBS is only an Hour???????????? You mean to tell me that they couldn't atleast have a 2 hour tribute for a man who has hosted the price is since 1972??? It really can be 3 hours
8pm to 11pm
8pm to 9pm-deals with the 1972-79 era of the price is right and memorable moments
9pm to 10pm-deals with the 1980-89 era of the price is right as Barker hairs goes from black to gray
10pm to 11pm-The 1990-2007 era of the price is right
Only a HOUR????????????
friendsfan77 05-17-2007, 06:11 PM There is a part of me wondering if they should have aired both last night's show and tonight's show together.

Damm This is CBS way of saying THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES BOB, 55 min???-lol

 I think the Early Show is doing something as well.
TURBOCSX 05-17-2007, 07:32 PM last night was lame. CBS dropped the ball here. 1 hour is not enough to do a proper tribute.

I will see tonight if it was something that was THROWN together
TURBOCSX 05-17-2007, 08:11 PM i am not sure what to make of this. I turned my DVR off to stop recording because it looked like just another new show. but they are showing some old clips.

Yeah I was not expecting this silly sh*T. I thought it would be Interviews and clips, not a GAME SHOW. Looks like CBS was preparing for May SWOOPS insteead of May SWEEPS

The ratings say it did great.

I changed the channel after the first 15 minutes. It was boring. That lady didn't win the Viper.
I agree, one hour of a "send-off" show for B.B. is not enough. Last night was just a primetime game show, it had nothing to do with saying goodbye.

Exactly Irene, You know how much FOOTAGE CBS has of TPIR from 1972 to 2007 and they only say Good bye for an HOUR??-lol

Yes! And to think you have to add in all those stupid commercials, plus any commentaries from various individuals, etc. So, not much will be shown I guess. Just the same ol' footage I have seen on prior specials or game show moments.

So sad. I can make a prediction right now of what will be shown. I expect them to show that heavyset black woman who was so happy to win that she went chasing Bob all over the stage. I also predict the black woman whose tube top came down and she exposed her boobs.

So, I guess I shouldn't bother watching it then.

My main problem with the old clipd of TPIR is they never included the YEAR with the Clip they were showing. Like that Big Black woman who was chasing bob barker, since no year was posted I can only assume it was in the 70's-lol

It was the 70's. Believe me, I seen that episode. I was home. I was sick and stayed home that day or it was summertime, can't remember, but I do remember seeing that episode and I was shocked!

Sorry, can't help you out there. You'd probably have to do some research on that.

I watched Entertainment Tonight when they went through these classic TPIR clips. The clip you're talking about actually took place in 1981. As for tonight's special, I, too, would've expected more out of this. Bob Barker deserves a proper send-off, but he didn't quite get the send-off we we're expecting. When they showed that Happy Gilmore clip, I expected to hear the edited for TV clip, not the actual feature film clip. I was expecting to hear Gilmore say "The price is wrong, Bob!" Instead, they showed the other with the dreaded B word that rhymes with witch. I was disappointed, because that was supposed to be a clip on a G-rated show.
snl 70s show fan 05-18-2007, 03:30 AM i tjought the whole thing was lame bob barker has been a part of all of our lives in one way or another and he should be treated wtith class and dignity not this half baked so called tribute that cbs aired i did think it was nice when the 2 girls in the back row yelled out please dont go bob we love you while les moonves was making his speech

I'm recording over it tonight with the Walter Cronkite Tribute
Ireneparalegal 05-18-2007, 05:42 PM My boyfriend wanted to watch it so I seen it. It didn't make sense to have a "goodbye" show mixed with a game show. WTF?????? I would like to have had an hour (better than nothing) of different people talking abt the show TPIR, his career as various game show hosts, have at least one of the former Barker Beauties (can't remember her name, but the one that didn't have a beef with him) talk abt TPIR and the memories. There was soooooo much that could have been done. Something on the level of like True Hollywood Story, but on a HAPPY NOTE. Have him talk abt the different "come on down" guys that were on TPIR, etc.

I haven't a clue. The part where Adam Sandler was funny. That was good. Overall, it was not a proper send-off. Maybe they should have had one hour of the game show and then one hour "good-byes".

snl 70s show fan 05-19-2007, 12:08 AM I'm recording over it tonight with the Walter Cronkite Tributeim keeping my tape in case anyone ever wants to watch the thing but i dobut if i will ever watch the ep again myself
snl 70s show fan 05-19-2007, 12:15 AM I know, what was that game show sH*T all about?-loli read somewhere that bob insisted that they include a few games for the special because he felt that if people were coming to see him they should at least have a chance to play the price is right just like they always have. i dont know if its true or not but if it is he could have picked some better games than the ones they played last night
friendsfan77 05-19-2007, 11:13 AM It would have been interesting if they played Double Prices, Bonus Game, and Any Number... in that exact order, those were the first three games he ever hosted.
It was still a pretty decent show for me, and an improvement over the previous night's. Though I would have made it longer.
I have to admit, I did laugh at-"THE PRICE IS WRONG BITCH!!!!!!-LOL_LMAO_LOL
That is the best part of the whole movie for me. I'm glad it was left alone. I remember watching this when I was younger around when it first came out. I was on the floor when Bob called Adam a bitch. And seeing that the other night, it was still hilarious.

I know exactly what you mean. I hated the THS for this show. Yeah, drama did go on behind the scenes, no one's denying that, but they made it seem like the show for as long as it has aired on CBS contained NOTHING but backstage conflict and issues. But then I remind myself who actually made the damn thing in the first place and stop wondering why. It would have been nice if they had at least a full hour of flashbacks/interviews, etc.
TripperFan 05-19-2007, 11:29 AM Maybe they had to cut it short because he had to run out to be neutered.

 Wouldn't she though? Probably would step up and be willing to do it herself! ;)
mriggles 05-21-2007, 07:54 AM I agree with Solomon that it should have been at least 2 hrs long, but I thought it was well done. It was Bobs request to do the tribute with 3 games intertwined in the mix. THat was his request & the suits accomodated him. Lets all remember that his last daytime show still has not been taped, that will tape on June 6th & as of the writing of this that show is slated to air on the 15th of June & that will have the final farewell feeling that I didn't get this past thursday.

Surprisingly the Tribute had 14 million viewers
Ireneparalegal 05-21-2007, 10:41 PM Like I said, some tributes to the past guys like Rod Ruddy (sp?) and Johnny Oleson, who I grew up watching, would be nice to see.

It was Bob himself who requested game playing during his tribute. When Cbs made the plan to honor him, he went to the executives & said this is what I would like to have done. Totally 100% his doing
