Starring Lainie Kazan as Marie Feldman, a matriarch of a semi-wealthy New Yorker family. Marie has been married five times, she's a thrice divorcee and a twice widowed woman. Marie's most recent husband, Stan died at the tender age of 90 and left his fortunes to his beloved wife, Marie. Marie thinks it's great living off her late husband's fortunes and wealth in his multimillionaire mansion. Yet everything turns out not as much fun as Marie had thought. After realizing living the wealthy alone is no fun at all, Marie invites her daughters to move in and stay with her. Marie's daughters range from (Marie kept her girls' last names the same as her maiden name): Vanessa Feldman (Minnie Driver)-a thirtysomething divorcee and single mother of a teenage daughter, Megan (Misti Traya); Rebecca Feldman (Becki Newton)- a single, sophisticated career-focused woman who is dying to get married and start a family of her own soon and worries her current boyfriend, David Barons (Jonathon Rhys Meyers) isn't "the one" for her; Gracie Feldman (Mikalah Gordon)-the youngest, somewhat rebellious daughter who is about to get married to her college boyfriend, Simon Rodriquez (Freddy Rodriquez)-who often buttheads with Marie. Vanessa, Rebecca, and Gracie each decide to reluctantly move back in with their mother. Vanessa is accompanied by her 17-year-old sarcastic and unhappy daughter (Megan), and Gracie is accompanied by her live-in boyfriend-turned-fiancee (Simon). Rebecca and her boyfriend, David share a loving, healthy relationship yet Rebecca fears their relationship is going nowhere or at least not where she would like it to be. But Rebecca isn't giving up on it, and still hopes David turns out to be "the one" for her to become her husband and father of her children someday. Even though, Rebecca's boyfriend, David does not live in the same house as Rebecca and her family, he is over at the family home/mansion quite often. Watch how Marie and her daughters (and Megan & Simon too) can manage living under the same roof once again-but now as adults.

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
Marie learns the wealthy life she always wanted to enjoy isn't all fun and games when alone, so she invites her daughters to move in with her. Vanessa struggles to convince Megan that moving in with her aunts and grandma might be what she needs. Meanwhile, Marie isn't too fond of the announcement from Gracie and Simon about their engagement--plus Simon moving into her house with Gracie, much to her dismay. Gracie informs Marie that if Simon isn't welcomed in her house than neither is she, then Gracie prepares to pack up her stuff to move out of Marie's--Yet Marie changes her mind and tells Gracie she is going to try her best to tolerate him.
Ep2: The Wonders Of Life:
Rebecca wonders if David is "the one" for her or not, after David brushes off Rebecca's attempt to make plans for summer 2008. Meanwhile, Vanessa's sneaking off twice a week during the afternoon starts to spark interest in Marie, who wants to find out where she always goes to. When asked by Marie, Vanessa stumbles upon her words as she tries to think up a quick, believable lie. Marie doesn't buy Vanessa's cheesy story, but out of nowhere, Megan steps up and tells Marie a believeable lie (which Vanessa pretends to be ashamed of). Vanessa is shocked and gracious that her otherwise moody, cyncial daughter stood up for her and didn't let Vanessa inform her mother that she attends therapy sessions.
Ep3: Carried Out By Love:
Simon and Gracie go out for drinks with Rebecca and David one night, where Gracie has a bit too much to drink and starts causing a scene, which kind of embarrasses Simon, Rebecca, and David in front of everyone in the bar. After Rebecca and David head home, Simon decides to go calm down and bring home a drunken Gracie-who ends up getting Simon into a fight with an equally-drunk testerone-induced man in the bar. Simon ends up getting beaten up badly, but his pride won't let him look bad. So, Simon decides to head home with Gracie, but only makes it to the parking lot, where more guys are waiting to finish him off. After realizing Rebecca forget her jacket at the bar, she and David pull around and head back--just in time to "rescue" Simon and a hysterical Gracie. Elsewhere, Marie decides to take Vanessa and Megan out shopping. Marie wants to buy Megan a homecoming dress, which stuns Vanessa after Marie never once offered to pay for anything like that when she or her sisters were younger.
Ep4: Then She Found God:
After getting a lecture from some random lady at the mall, Marie decides to be more spiritual and religious. Yet Marie doesn't want to do it alone, so she enlists the whole family to attend church with her and other "spiritual rituals". Simon surprises both Marie and Gracie, when doesn't put up an arguement and embraces Marie's decision to become more spiritual and religious. Meanwhile, Rebecca learns her cushy advertising executive job may be at stake when she oversees some confidential papers, involving the company's future plans and financial status.
Ep5: The Return Of Anna-Maria:
Marie's longtime Mexican housekeeper/maid, Esperanza's beloved Mexican-American daughter, Anna-Maria (America Ferrera) shows up on Marie and the family's doorstep one afternoon--with a last-minute invitation to her wedding in a few days (on the same night as Megan's homecoming dance). Marie, Rebecca, David, Gracie, and Simon attend Anna-Maria's wedding, where Esperanza gets reacquainted with Marie and daughters. David and Simon are in awe of all the gorgeous bridesmaids--yet are quickly reminded of their girlfriends. Meanwhile, Vanessa gets Megan ready for her homecoming dance, with camera in tow. While going down to watch the Homecoming Court, Vanessa bumps into a good-looking single dad, Bryan (Patrick Dempsey)--and end up exchanging numbers.
Ep6: Finding Numbers, Losing Numbers:
After crashing at the Feldman home after the wedding, the next morning, Rebecca finds a slip of paper with a girl's name and phone number on it in David's sportscoat--which causes her mind to race and decides she needs to find out some details from David himself. David explains he had no idea who or how that number got in there, which sounds fishy to Rebecca. Also, Vanessa goes into a frenzy when she seems to have misplaced Bryan's phone number and worries she may never see him again after enjoying his company last night at the Homecoming Court. Turns out, Megan got a hold of it, and isn't happy about her dating anyone from her school's dad (after seeing how Vanessa's past relationship tend to crash and burn quite quickly after they start). Vanessa convinces a reluctant Megan, this time it 'feels different'.
Ep7: Calling and Meeting Ava:
Rebecca decides to call the number and arrange to meet "Ava" out for lunch. After meeting Ava (Eva Longeria), Rebecca's plans change from catfighting to chatting--after realizing how much they have in common (especially the mutual attraction to David). Rebecca learns that Ava still has intentions of going after David, even after she makes it clear to Ava that she and David are in a relationship--which kind of put the lunch to a quick end after Rebecca feels her relationship with David is threatened by the spoiled, pretty, and rich girl who gets what she wants (Ava). Elsewhere, Marie assist Gracie and Simon in their wedding plans preparations by hiring a highly-popular, highly-expensive, and highly-recommended wedding planner, Katherine Thomas (Marcia Cross).
blondie44 05-17-2007, 01:41 AM Ep8: Don't Feud With Katherine:
Gracie and Marie are less than thrilled when Simon throws a big fuss over Katherine (Marcia Cross)'s decision-making for the wedding, which Simon isn't happy that Katherine has Gracie (and Marie) "brainwashed" into pushing her ideas and ignoring the bride and groom's. Simon ultimately pisses Katherine off enough that she withdraws her business and quits, leaving Simon and Gracie without a wedding planner. Meanwhile, Rebecca is anything but happy when she finds out that Ava has called David's cell while he and Rebecca are out during dinner.
Ep9: Shut Up And Kiss Me, Or Not?:
Vanessa gets a call from Bryan (Patrick Dempsey) who invites her out on a date, which makes Vanessa all giddy and happy-go-lucky. Marie, Rebecca, Gracie, and Megan help Vanessa prepare and get ready for her date with Bryan, while David and Simon discuss their latest tribulations (Rebecca catching David talking to Ava, Simon causing their wedding planner to quit.) Meanwhile, during their seemingly great date, Bryan and Vanessa's end of the night kiss is rudely interrupting by Bryan's very-much-still-married wife, Gina (Christa Miller), who is irate after seeing her husband kissing Vanessa. Vanessa is mortified and runs off before Bryan has the opportunity to explain.
Ep10: Explain Nothing, Fear Everything:
Vanessa, still mortified and feeling "dirty", refuses to accept an explanation from Bryan (either via telephone or in person). Vanessa, along with the help of an equally-upset Megan, makes it quite clear to Bryan that she wants nothing to do with him ever again. Meanwhile, Rebecca gets called into her boss, Diane (Judith Light)'s office--where Diane informs her that the company is laying off a bunch of departments, including Rebecca's. Meaning Rebecca has until the end of the week to clean out her office, which truly devastates Rebecca. Also, matters don't get any better for her, Rebecca oversees David and Ava enjoying lunch together in a quaint little coffeeshop (while on her way home from work), which irks her royally.
