It was cool. BACK THEN. Nowadays, it is horrible. I remember the high school seniors who took their senior photos and had those ruffled shirts. The baby blue tuxedo jackets were real popular. Ahhhhh memories.

Funny you said that...didn't Redd Foxx wear a tuxedo similar to this one? I think I recall seeing him wear one like that. Didn't he on Sanford and Son?

I don't think it is ugly. I remember wearing worse clothes than that in the 70s. Imagine wearing a pair of bell bottom pants that were like that jacket. If you check out some old movies, tv shows from the mid 70s the men wore pants that were like that jacket and some wore them with bow ties, butterfly collar shirts, platform shoes, boat neck pullovers and huge afros all in the same ensemble.

I'm trying to think what other movie or TV show I saw a similiar style jacket

The man has to make the clothes. Not everyone can wear something and have it look the same. The attitude, the face, the body, etc.

Mel on ALICE is a good example of a man who wore a crazy ass colors in his ensemble and he could NOT make anything look good.

Redd Foxx, Sherman Hemsley, and some others from that era could pass off that kind of style and make it COOL.

Because in some old movies and TV shows back in the day, there's monkeys on the street playing an accordion and most likely they have a plaid jacket on along with their owners.

My parents got married in 1974 and the men all had those sad, ruffly tuxes on. It's so much fun looking through the photo album and seeing all the fashions of the day. My parents are still happily married, though, so it can't be all bad!
