View Full Version : In the Alice moonlight episode, is it just me or did anyone else think
Ireneparalegal 05-12-2007, 07:39 PM that the music Alice was performing/singing NOT fitting for the place? I mean, it seemed like cowboys hung out there, some truck drivers, just laid back type of people...I don't think they would care for show tunes, broadway style songs, etc. Anyone else think so?
Alice perpetuated some stereotyping by implying that Phoenix is nothing but cowboys and truckers, people who talk with a "twang"...it is not so like that. It is very huge and suburbanite.
Brian Damage 05-12-2007, 08:36 PM Come to think of it, you are right. They said a few times that the place was a seedy joint. It didn't seem her type of music would be welcomed or appreciated there. Maybe that is why it was so easy to fire her. lol

 True. It was seedy and the clientele seemed to want to hear jukebox music or country singing.

From what I remember, it was cabaret, broadway style music and I also remember when she sang disco with Mel's mom where they both sang DO YA THINK I'M SEXY? :puke::lol: I don't think she sang country. Can't say for sure.

I figured Disco to be in there somewhere.
GARFIELDKOOL 05-13-2007, 12:35 PM What I don't understand is that she was trying to make it as a singer, but in Phoenix? That doesn't seem like the mecca for making it.

Someone let me know when they air the "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" episode. I've never seen it, and it sounds so horrible I want to see it to believe it.
GeorgeWBushGOP 05-14-2007, 08:29 PM seemed to me outside of the crew from the diner there was only two people in the place.
Ireneparalegal 05-14-2007, 08:54 PM  So true!
Ahhhh Brian, remember I stated that before and you reminded me how Alice found herself stuck in Phoenix...it wasn't a choice she had in mind when moving out west.
But right you are my man Kool, PHOENIX????? Ridiculous.
My lady Catlover, that disco episode is in the last season or next to last season of Alice. By then Jolene is the last waitress to join. I will be sure to let you know when that episode is coming up.
Bullet 05-14-2007, 09:28 PM Of course she did try to make it big in Flagstaff once.

I've been to Flagstaff. That is not a place to start a singing career.
