View Full Version : Episodes you hate on shows you love
dav4463 05-12-2007, 12:33 AM Brady Bunch:
The Kelly Kid's episode is a channel switcher for me.
The one where Robert Reed and Florence Henderson dress up as Grandma and Grandpa and the kid's try to set them up is stupid.
Another one I switch quickly is where Peter Brady runs into his double and they pull the switch on the parents.
Not a fan of same actor playing dual roles unless it is Samantha and Serena on Bewitched !
Andy Griffith:
Hate the episode "The Senior Trip".... also not a fan of the one where Ken Berry brings the Italian family to his house.
Help me think of some more. These I remember off the top of my head.
comedyfreak 05-12-2007, 09:41 AM I liked What's Happening but hated the Talent Show episode. I liked Happy Days, but lost interest when Richie and Ralph left the show. Good Times I really liked, until they killed off James. The the 4th season was acceptable and the rest were painful to watch.
Ant-Lox 05-12-2007, 10:28 AM I like Everybody Loves Raymond a lot, but I cannot stand episodes where his wife just goes all psycho on him, it annoys the hell out of me. I mean Ray does stuff wrong, but she just goes overboard sometimes.
sunshinefizzy 05-12-2007, 10:40 AM I hate the one on Full House when Michelle and the twins fight with each other over a wrecked toy. The ending was cheesier than a large Pizza Hut pizza!!!
mrs.gingerhinkley 05-12-2007, 12:09 PM Sabrina the Teenage Witch
the one episode where she's the magician's assistant, i've seen it way to many times to find it cute anymore
catlover79 05-12-2007, 01:53 PM All the Bewitched episodes with no Darrin (before DY officially left). Some of the DS episodes were OK, but by that point the show was recycling scripts left and right. It didn't help that EM and DS had no chemistry whatsoever. Once the 5th season comes to DVD, I'm stopping there.

Funny you should mention that, Monika, because I was going to ask you if you planned to buy all 8 seasons. Something tells me Seasons 6-8 will not sell nearly as well as the first five.
88survivor 05-12-2007, 02:29 PM Brian and Sylvia or any attempted spin-offs on FOL.:p
catlover79 05-12-2007, 02:41 PM Brian and Sylvia or any attempted spin-offs on FOL.:p
Ditto that. How about "Jo's Cousin"? As good an actress as Megan Follows is, that ep just made me cringe.
freshprinceofLA 05-12-2007, 02:53 PM on who's the boss? there was an episode called charmed lives. Fran dechester from the nanny was on there it was horrible!!!
88survivor 05-13-2007, 08:51 AM I love all the CIC episodes, but can't stand the attempted spin off ideas when they were not going to have one at all, such as:
Fair Exchange
Almost Family
Lost Resort
I hate when some of my favorite shows do this a lot because it ruins the flow of the show's run. They did it with Welcome Back, Kotter. They did with The Brady Bunch with Kelly's Kids. It is just one of those "viewers don't care about these unimportant characters that have nothing to offer and yet you writers stick them on a silver platter for us to suffer through" syndrome. Sorry. End of rant.
Eric Paddon 05-13-2007, 10:42 AM There are a number of "All In The Family" episodes I tune out because their subject matter offended me deeply. Episodes that serve as a blatant soapbox for Meathead's atheism (like Season 6's "Little Atheist") don't get play on my DVD, nor will when it comes out later, the even more repulsive "Draft Dodger" Christmas episode.
88survivor 05-13-2007, 04:25 PM There was a weak attempted episode in Diff'rent Strokes that only showcased a bunch of colleagues. Nothing more...only showed the cast for like 5 minutes tops.
ChanandMon 05-13-2007, 06:26 PM I hate R/R centered episodes on Friends. Boring.
EmoJoe 05-13-2007, 07:20 PM Who's the Boss - Living Dolls and Charmed Lives, the two attempted spin-offs. Also, most of the Billy episodes, except for Who's Minding the Kid? and Party Politics. The Unsinkable Tony Micelli = the worst non-spin off WTB episode.
MADtv - Episode #7-05...it didn't have one good sketch. most Season 7 episodes sucked anyway. #7-16 is the same.

 I remember Billy. He sure didn't last long.
EmoJoe 05-13-2007, 07:53 PM  I remember Billy. He sure didn't last long.
thank GOD. he was the most annoying kid on the face of this planet.
dawsongirl 05-14-2007, 08:54 PM It didn't help that EM and DS had no chemistry whatsoever.
And to think they were good friends in real life, no? Odd that they didn't bring anything to the screen.
dawsongirl 05-14-2007, 08:57 PM thank GOD. he was the most annoying kid on the face of this planet.
Ugh, he was. Ranks up there with Cousin Oliver and Olivia from The Cosby Show.
catlover79 05-14-2007, 10:35 PM And to think they were good friends in real life, no? Odd that they didn't bring anything to the screen.
That's right. EM seemed to be the only one on earth who thought the recast worked, and barely even gave credit to DY. In my opinion, it was mainly he who made the romance between Sam and Darrin so magical.
I hated the last season of Laverne & Shirley. Shirley & Edna were gone and Lenny was only on a few episodes. It just wasn't as good or as funny as previous seasons.
71dude 05-15-2007, 10:44 PM I hate most of the All in the Family episodes focused on Mike and Gloria in their own house - overacting, forced writing, and little or no Archie and Edith. The baby shower and the New Year's wedding are the worst.
dav4463 05-24-2007, 01:41 AM Here is another one. Charles in Charge episode where Charles gets hit in the head and becomes a thug. Just stupid.
blue4t 05-24-2007, 12:45 PM Brady Bunch: I was not such a big fan of episodes that revolved around Marcia. I can't name a specific episode, but the season 1 & 2 eps that really revolve around her are the worst.
Friends: Most of season 3.
Boy Meets World: The War/7 the Hard Way
Sabrina the Teenage Witch: Most of season 7
Full House: Series Finale
Saved by the Bell: The one where Kelly brings her baby brother to school.
OH Nuts! 10-09-2007, 09:44 PM The Adv. of Ozzie and Harriet: *
*any episode with the Tigers
* any episode with too much Wally or Joe Randolph (both get on my nerves
something fierce)
Mikado 10-09-2007, 10:06 PM i love M*A*S*H and while I canrt say I "hate" any eps, i have to say that many of the "experimental" eps, such as "Private Rich", where you see the 4077th from a patient's eyes or the "Dreams" ep are extremely tedious to watch after maybe 2 or 3 times (Another one being when Hawk overturns his Jeep and talks to a family who doesnt understand for 25 mins).....ok, there is one i DO hate..."The Countess" when Hawkeye falls in love with a "strong woman" , only to lose her to the war.:barf:
Rezny@gmail.com 10-09-2007, 10:43 PM "Sanford and Son"-the episodes produced by Aaron Ruben were the best.I didn't care much for the episodes that had the new producers, except for "The Stung" and "The Masquerade Party".Those were good. The WORST one, however, was the one where Grady goes to move in with his family. That one,TVLand called the "Whitman Sampler",and was produced by the new producers.
Rezny@gmail.com 10-09-2007, 10:50 PM All the Bewitched episodes with no Darrin (before DY officially left). Some of the DS episodes were OK, but by that point the show was recycling scripts left and right. It didn't help that EM and DS had no chemistry whatsoever. Once the 5th season comes to DVD, I'm stopping there.I agree with you. Those episodes that did NOT feature Dick York as Darrin ,before he left for heath reasons, were not very good.I also didn't care for those episodes during the Dick York as Darrin years where Larry Tate let greed get the best of him,and threatened to fire Darrin.(about season 4)
Mikado 10-09-2007, 11:08 PM ohh just thought of more......
Family Ties-ANY show with NI-ICK, where hes more than a cameo on the show
(I will NOT watch any show when NI-ICK is FEATURED!)
Cheers-Any show during that "Sam and Rebecca try to have a baby out of wedlock together" storyline.....even the shows writers admitted that was a HUGE MISTAKE!!
catlover79 10-09-2007, 11:11 PM I agree with you. Those episodes that did NOT feature Dick York as Darrin ,before he left for heath reasons, were not very good.I also didn't care for those episodes during the Dick York as Darrin years where Larry Tate let greed get the best of him,and threatened to fire Darrin.(about season 4)
I have the first five seasons now and am not going to get more. Poor Darrin - he had to contend with Larry at the office and Endora at home. I'm surprised he didn't tear his hair out!!
Mikado 10-09-2007, 11:20 PM if I bought Bewitched on DVD, id stop after season 5 also
dawsongirl 10-09-2007, 11:20 PM The Incredible Hulk- there's an episode called Killer Instinct. It sucks. It's all about football players going nuts or something. It was just stupid.
Ireneparalegal 10-09-2007, 11:21 PM LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE: When the Ingalls sold their farm and the Carters' moved in. I would say almost 99% of the episodes from that season and forward SUCKED.
GOOD TIMES: THE JUDITH COHEN STORY - Nuff said! Also the Dream Episode. I know there are a couple more, but those two stick out in my mind.

Does ANYONE on the planet like that episode besides Solomon? I haven't met or talked to anyone who does.
coffield3 10-10-2007, 12:12 AM Roseanne-roseanne in the hood
I find this episode annoying!
Ireneparalegal 10-10-2007, 12:15 AM Does ANYONE on the planet like that episode besides Solomon? I haven't met or talked to anyone who does.
I know of NO ONE other than Solomon who loves that episode.

Ya think? But Billy never said much, he just stood there most episodes and maybe had a line or two here and there. Cousin Oliver and Olivia were precocious and very verbal. Billy wasn't that at all...
Anyway, I can tolerate the Who's the Boss? episodes with Billy, it's the one called There's No Business Like Shoe Business that I think is just the dumbest one of that series. It's the one where the guy who works at the shoe factory comes home with Mona and decides to go to Hollywood and he ends up delivering sandwiches. There's so many problems with that episode beginning with why is he at Tony and Angela's house to begin with, all the way down to why would those parents leave their baby with total strangers. I have no clue what the point of that episode was. The baby was cute...was that the point???
Kristen 10-10-2007, 01:29 AM The one that comes to mind immediately for me is "The Chatterbox" episode of The Nanny. The whole ep. pretty much takes place at Fran's beauty salon, and Max and Fran are barely in it!
Following along the same lines, the ep. of The Golden Girls that was supposed to be a pilot for Empty Nest. Thank God the re-worked that, or we would never have had Empty Nest. The series was way better than that.
dawsongirl 10-10-2007, 01:51 AM I hate when they use shows to try to spin other shows off, and consequently, hardly anyone from the parent show is in the episode. Who's the Boss did that, Adam-12 did it, The Nanny, like Kristen said...
Classicshowsgurl15 10-10-2007, 02:46 AM On Who's the Boss? I don't like Charmed Lives, The Prodigal Father In Law, Tony's Father In Law, There's No Business Like Shoe Business and Mona. Those were just not that great of episodes in opinion.
phoebe7165 10-10-2007, 03:13 AM Wings
"When a Man Loves a Donut" Joe & Helen hook up so Brian feels they aren't the 3 Muskateers anymore, so to fill that emptiness, he starts to eat, thus gaining weight. So as the episode goes on, he gaining more and more weight. Everytime you see him, he's wearing a grey sweatsuit, like apparently in sitcomland, that's the only thing a fat person can fit into. I just feel it makes fun of overweight people.
Any episode of a show that has inconsistencies -
Friends
Rachel didn't know Chandler in the pilot, but in a later episode, she had met him a few years before that at Thanksgiving at the Geller's.
Wings
again!!
In the 1st few seasons, Helen talks about her sister, Lorraine. Then in a later season, Amy Yasbeck is cast as Helen's sister, Casey.
In the pilot, Faye tells Joe that she didn't know that he had a brother, but in a later episode that shows how Joe & Faye met, Joe told Faye that his brother ran off with his fiancee.
I mean I know that shows change writers over the years but it still bugs me. You'd think that they would still have a writer who was there previously who would bring it to their attention.

I find this episode annoying!
Yeah I agree that hold episode was extremely annoying and served little or no purpose.
