I would just like to warn everyone who frequent this board that there's a scam in operation by the people who go by the e-mail address of tvshowstore@yahoo.com. The woman's name who uses that e-mail address is Maria Helena and she lives in Brazil. I was contacted by that person awhile ago after I posted a message on this board saying that I was interested in obtaining the sitcom "Cybill" on DVD. She said she had the complete set of Cybill but in order to obtain that set from her, she wanted me to purchase 10 movies on VHS from either E-bay or Amazon and then trade them for the Cybill disc set. I answered her and said that would be too expensive so I declined the offer. She answered back and said she would require only three of those movies on VHS instead so thinking that would be more reasonable price-wise, I accepted. But then thinking that she had me on the hook, she quickly raised the movie total to five! That upset me but thinking that would be the only way to obtain the Cybill set, I accepted that offer as well.

She then informed me that she had picked out the specific ones she wanted on Amazon (as far as in what condition and from which dealer) so I ordered the five ones she wanted. When they all arrived in the mail, I packed them up (as per her instructions as far as bubble wrap and writing on the packing slip that the order was for her "private collection" so she wouldn't have to pay a tarif) and shipped them to Brazil for a whopping price of $38.00! (She also kept her location of Brazil a secret until I had agreed to the five movie deal!) I was also kind enough to provide her with a tracking number so she could keep track of the package until it arrived safely at her location. She then e-mailed me and told me the package had arrived and she was pleased with all five movies.

She then told me she had the Cybill disc set ready to ship but there was a catch. In order to receive the Cybill disc set, I was to order more movies for her! And then I would not only receive the Cybill set but she would also throw in two more TV shows on discs that I wasn't interested in. (She had provided a list of TV shows to choose from.) So I e-mailed her and said that I wasn't interested in any more TV shows on discs and to please just ship me the Cybill disc set as per our agreement. That was six days ago and I haven't heard from her since. I also don't have the Cybill disc set. I have contacted her several times in that time. I have even threatened her with legal action but all I've received from her is silence. She also has a partner who goes by the name "Alex." So beware of that name, too. I have contacted my local congressman and I'm waiting for his advice on this situation. I'm also planning to contact lawyers and other political leaders so I can receive some kind of justice for the blatant scam that's been done to me. I spent well over a hundred dollars for those movies plus the postage to ship them. So let everyone be warned about these people. Be very careful who you deal with!

I'm sorry BigDealLucille that happened to you. I, too, was contacted by that email address. She sent me a list of things she wanted from some website. It was about $500.00 worth of stuff she wanted. I didn't think it was scam, but I did think they were taking advantage. I'm glad I didn't fall for the scam.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies, your info, and your sympathy. I'm going to take any and all info I can get to further attempt to shut down TV show store's/Maria's scams. I'm planning to go to other web sites and warn others of her dishonesty.

Also, has anyone ever seen any of her ads on E-bay? As she claims to sell her merchandise there. I'm planning to contact the mods of E-bay as well.

I'm sorry, but I don't remember. It has been over a month and a half ago. I read the email, laughed, and deleted it. I knew something was strange when they wanted $500.00 worth of DVDs and CDs for a set that was just a few discs.

I was contacted by these 2 scammers last month. They said they have some of the rare cartoons I am looking for! That Maria and Alex wants me to buy 10 dvd's from amazon also, good thing I didn't buy them! Their mistake was they gave me their old SO username which was TvBlast DVD! If you will look at Savage's Bad Traders' List, you can see this name and they are from Brazil!

They have been around a long time, deceiving and thieving for a long time.

They have been on the bad trader list for a long time---I updated their email address here to the bad trader list- if you hit control F for Brazil you will see oh about 80 other emails and names :(

As they, as well as others have increased their scamming, I recently posted a how to and what to do on tradersreport if you need an overview of some options you have.
Although discussing it and making their dishonesty public is the best prevention.

Meanwhile, cheer up-
I just contacted you to arrange Cybill, all 4 seasons to you safely and without hassle.
So there is a silver lining

I wish I had every rare show, so scammers had no opportunity!

Thank you, T-Greg, for posting that thread. It was very interesting reading and I am soooooo glad that TvShowStore has been banned! I'm just wondering where they will strike next. I just wish we could get the message out to more people on the net. Thanks again.
