The reason for not having any more season DVD's of Murphy Brown is that season 1 had so-so sales (they weren't that bad), and since the second season has very high music costs, another release is out of the question.

This information was given by Warner Bros. at their annual chat over at HTF.

Well, at least it's more than "Poor sales, end of story." Which is usually what studios say. Thanks for posting it, even if it's not what we wanted to hear. And I'd almost rather NOT get DVD's than get them w/ music replacement. But still, you can sign the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/mbondvd/ if you'd like to voice your opinion.

i'd have to agree. Murphy Brown was all about motown. Without the music, there wouldn't be a Murphy Brown. But, if we are never going to get a second season, then I would rather have music replaced than no release.

But they were never addressed as to why sales were so low? If you think about it, there are a lot of reasons. First of all, when Murphy Brown was released, TV on DVD was just strating to catch on. Also, it was 1 of 6 shows released on the same day. I know I didn't buy all 6, even though I enjoyed all 6. Since there are 6 good shows all released on one day, its hard to buy all 6 at once, which is probably the case. Plus, all 6 shows had bad sales, and only 2 have gotten further releases.

Warner said if they see a surge in sales, it will be greatly considered. If only people would go out and buy a copy . . .
