I'm a big fan of Maude and I really love the first season that's come out on DVD and I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything concerning the possibility of Maude coming out with the second season on DVD and when that might happen. Thanks.

If the 1st season just came out on DVD 5 weeks ago, why would there be news about season 2 coming out on DVD this early? Try asking this in 3 to 4 months

I thought someone, somewhere might have heard a rumor or somthing as to how sales were going with season one and, therefore, the possibility of an early release of season two, that's all. So I'll take your great advice and hold off asking anything more about it until the aforementioned three to four month period is up. Thank you very much.

I guess you are one of those people who went to the store to buy season 1 and asked the cashier when season2 is coming out-LOL

You guessed wrong, but that isn't really news, is it? However, when I bought Maude, the man in front of me in line asked about Tony Orlando and Dawn on DVD and everyone within ear shot busted out laughing at him.

Solomon....or The Analyzer is right. We have to wait a few months for some info...And being as how Sony is the one who distributes Maude, we should get a season 2 around Spring 2009.

Exactly, it would be great to get a new release every month until the show is complete on DVD but things just don't work like that

It`s sad, but SO true!.....All In The Family, probably the most popular and most loved sitcom from their whole TV library, and they just released season 6 a few months ago, in the meantime the 1st season came out 5 years ago!

LOL....Every month sure would be great, but that's impossible, and kind of over doing it, LOL....I think Sony should release their shows every 4 months (3 seasons a year). It`s not like they work on bonus material or anything!...They should just put the original episodes on DVD and release them at an okay speed. There's no reason why All In The Family, The Jeffersons, Diff`rent Strokes, etc are just about, or not even half way through on DVD.

I know this might be a stupid question, but why is Sony so slow in releasing their shows on DVD? If they see that a particular show is selling well, why don't they just go ahead and release more seasons of that show? Why do they drag it out? Wouldn't it be smarter to release a popular show on DVD so that popular show will make them more money? What am I missing?

What you're missing is that it's an old show, and even though it sold well enough that Sony made a profit, it wasn't a TOP seller. It's not a hot show since it's not airing in the here and now where the younger demographic is more likely to buy it. Most of the show's fandom will buy it, but some will not. How many who loved the show back when it was on even own a DVD player? How many of them are even still alive? You'll have die hards buying the show (or fans of The Golden Girls who have never seen the show but will check it out simply because they're curious) but other than that, not much else.

Sony did make a profit, but only because putting the show out on DVD didn't cost them much. There was little restoration involved and it wasn't like there were music royalty issues. And with no commentaries and/or bloopers, that also minimizes the expense on Sony's part, so the show can afford to not be a hit seller and still make a profit.

They'll release Season 2 before long (probably in time for Christmas is my guess), but it'll only be when Sony gets around to it. It's frustrating, but it's what we have to deal with unfortunately...

I will be ranting about Sony in my Week;y rant this Saturday. Compared to WB and Casey/Werner, Sony is a JOKE

Agreed. It's a miracle that we fans got the complete series of Good Times and Sanford & Son out of them. Hopefully the same will eventually happen with Maude, in addition to All in the Family, Archie Bunker's Place and The Jeffersons. Time will tell... sigh...

All these Sony DVD's I bought and there were absolutely no extras. NONE!!

Jeffersons-seasons 1-6
Sanford and Son-seasons 1-6
Good Times-seasons 1-2
What's Happening-seasons 1-3
What's happening Now-season 1
Married With Children-season 2-4
Maude Season 1
That's My Mama-season 1 and 2

Right. If they had invested in extras, it'd incur more expense on their part to sell more. I don't think they're confident that the shows will sell beyond a week or two of its release. I don't agree with that assessment, but it's probably what they have in their minds. Little investment and more of a chance to make a profit, which ensures the likelihood of seeing more seasons.

Vicious circle in the business world I'm afraid...
