Hmmmm, I thought so. Abt two weeks ago I was searching for ADW when I was up late at night and was disappointed when I didn't see it on.

How is it a women show, when there really weren't any women topics? The only topics that I can think of that were stirred towards women were about pregnancy (which young men and women face) and date rape. Also it had just as many men then it did women.

Women characters were always the center of attention.

I disagree. It did cater towards a large audience for women but men as well. Oxygen did air the show but I loved it when it was on NBC. It was one of my all time faves for programming. Anyway, if the show has been removed from the Noggin schedule, I have to say that I am not surprised.:rolleyes: It got crappy treatment.

Brieanna, I strongly believe that Oxygen picks up Shows that are GEARED toward women. ADW just has a Women's feel to it. And it's nothing wrong with a show having a women's touch I'm just saying I don't go for those kind of shows. Which is why I couldn' get into Roseanne.

You are correct, I'm not saying MEN wouldn't enjoy ADW, i'm just saying it's a TV show that had WOMEN in mind when it was created. Just like Sanford and Son was geared toward men but women still find it funny except for my mom-lol

I understand where you are coming from but my brothers and I loved this show as well as other guys that we went to school with back in the day and we all talked about what happened on the show early friday morning. So I am confident that there was a widespread male audience as well. Heck, Fraiser is airing on Lifetime and the cast predominantly consists of men.

The show is a bit female centric, but not as much as the other shows on either Oxygen or Lifetime. The men in a ADW weren't second characters or weren't ever "othered."

This show did have a female slant to it- but variety is the spice of life- Sanford and Son and the Wayans Bros were definitely male slanted shows so why not a female slanted black series? But in TVResearcher's defense as much as I liked this series I always felt that the male characters were a bit less developed than the women.

Well, the Cosby Show and ADW were Bill Cosby shows. Cosby Show and ADW have the same formula as far as how the men were portrayed. What do you expect from the man who had headstrong women in The Cosby Show to do? Change that formula in ADW? Whatever made Cosby Show work, is what Bill brought to ADW. He also brought in Debbie Allen, a headstrong woman who knew what worked. ADW was a hit and I can easily watch that show over and over again, except for the episodes with Lisa Bonet in them. :lol:
