View Full Version : Weekend Coffee Chat! Janice 05-05-2007, 03:18 AM Happy Weekend Everyone! What's everyone have going on? Fleet 05-05-2007, 03:24 AM AGAIN?!?!? :bonk: :shocked :smash: Just kidding, Janice! :joke: Mr. Stefani 05-05-2007, 03:35 AM I'll be studying for finals and doing 2 papers. Joy. Hopefully i'll have time to go to this party tomorrow. why are we up at 3am anyways? TJL 05-05-2007, 08:18 AM Not much going on this weekend. I'm up early, which means I didn't go out last night. I'm going to go for a walk, then I have to clean up my room and take care of my laundry. I'm probably going to head to the Gaf earlier than usual today to watch the Kentucky Derby with some friends. ;) Number 9 Dream 05-05-2007, 09:46 AM I'm working 'til 10 (as usual!) and probably going to see Spiderman 3 with a friend afterwards :) Tomorrow I'll be working on a paper at my Grandma's house (our printer is shot  ), then going to visit my brother. Courtnee 05-05-2007, 11:29 AM I'm seeing Spiderman 3 with my little brother. PZelda 05-05-2007, 11:40 AM I have to go get a hair trim (the last time I got one was at the end of February) and then I need to go to the Verizon store to get help with getting voice mail access set up on my phone. Have to go food shopping and study for the finals that I've got on Tuesday. (this is rather amusing - all of my finals, and I mean ALL OF THEM, are on Tuesday. Blowing yer load in one sitting, anyone?) I should also be finishing up the leftover work that I've got. Blah. Janice 05-05-2007, 11:43 AM My girlfriend is coming over today. The weather is beautiful, so we'll take a walk by the river, then get some lunch. No big deal, just a nice relaxing day. Kay Scarpetta 05-05-2007, 11:52 AM Gotta work from 3-10, then going to see Spiderman 3 with my boyfriend. Working tomorrow 1-6:30, that's my last day. I quit pissed: I'M SO MAD I'm going to miss the De La Hoya/Merriweather fight! GRRR! Brian Damage 05-05-2007, 02:11 PM I am actually working today and tomorrow. I really don't mind, because I enjoy my job and we need the money, so it is all good. :) freshprinceofLA 05-05-2007, 02:20 PM Nothing really today maybe just sit at home watch some sports games NBA, and the del la hoya fight Brian Damage 05-05-2007, 02:57 PM Nothing really today maybe just sit at home watch some sports games NBA, and the del la hoya fight There is no way I am forking over 60 bucks for a boxing match. Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 05:05 PM My weekend got off to a good start, as my dog Salem made it successfully through her surgery around 5:00 pm yesterday!! :) She ended up having to have 7 teeth pulled instead of the five that they were originally expecting to pull, so the procedure went on a bit longer than originally anticipated, which made for a couple extra anxious hours around here. My mom and I went to visit her at about 6:00 pm last night, and she was as high as a kite. She looked so cute sitting in her little kennel, with her eyes opening and shutting, as she kept tipping over. As groggy as she was though, she wanted out of that cage, because as soon as he opened it and she saw us, she darted out of there like you wouldn't believe. Ha ha! Initially, they were going to keep her overnight to keep an eye on her, but once my mom found out that nobody would be staying overnight, she insisted on taking her home, since our neighbor had his two dog's stay overnight with nobody there, and both of them ended up dying as a result. :( When I brought her outside, her back legs kept collapsing, so I had to carry her to the car. I sat in the back seat with her, and she was out like a light the whole car ride home, with her head on my lap. As soon as we got home, it started hailing, which sucks because she's very sensitive to noise, and as I carried her in, she pooped all over me. :( (I think before long, I'm going to become known in my neighborhood as poopy pants, with as much as I've been having dogs pooping and peeing on me lately) Anyway, she seems to be doing alot better since pooping on me a second time, when I was carrying her out to go to the bathroom, lol, and it looks like she's on her way to a much healthier, and happier life. The doctor also found out that she has a low thyroid, which has been why she is so lathargic all the time, so with the meds he gave her for that, her life is going to be so much better, and I couldn't be any happier for her!! :D :D :D Thanks so much to everyone who had her in your thoughts, and/or prayers!! It was so much appreciated!! Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 05:13 PM There is no way I am forking over 60 bucks for a boxing match. I don't blame you. Especially since it could turn out to be a one round embarrassment for all we know. I would never take a chance on blowing $60.00 on that!! I have a friend who makes extra copies of all the matches, and so if it turns out to be a good fight, I just pay him $15.00, and he makes me a copy. bandito 05-05-2007, 05:33 PM My wife and I picked up our new German Shepard puppy last night. We had to put our other dog down :( He was 15 and lived a great life but that was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. The new puppy is a real handful, but i wouldnt have it any other way I enjoy working with dogs. Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 05:37 PM Thanks for thinking of me everyone!!  Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 05:39 PM My wife and I picked up our new German Shepard puppy last night. The new puppy is a real handful, but i wouldnt have it any other way I enjoy working with dogs. I'm so sorry to hear about that Bandito!! :( From one animal lover to another, I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a pet that we love. Here's wishing you and your new dog many happy, and memorable years together!!! :) bandito 05-05-2007, 05:44 PM I'm so sorry to hear about that Bandito!! :( From one dog lover to another, I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a dog that we love. I'm sure you and your new dog will have many happy, and memorable years together!!! :)Thanks,Brad. I hope Salem is doing well, my old dog resembled him alot. It's amazing how we get so attached to animals, they need to live to at least 100  Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 06:01 PM Thanks,Brad. I hope Salem is doing well, my old dog resembled him alot. It's amazing how we get so attached to animals, they need to live to at least 100  Awww, sounds like he was a great dog, and It sounds like you were a great owner as well!! You're absolutely right, animals should live to be 100 years old. Most of the animals I've known in my life, have been far better than the people I've known, so that would definitely be nice!! Hang in there my friend, and have fun with your new dog!! And thanks so much for your kind words about Salem!! I appreciate it, and she does too!! :) Fleet 05-05-2007, 06:37 PM A tortoise lives for 70 or more years. ;) It is too bad that dogs only live for 10-20 years. It would be so much nicer if they lived for about 30 or 40. But I agree... puppies are fun to have. :) Fleet 05-05-2007, 07:06 PM But I agree... puppies are fun to have. :) Here is a photo of my "puppy." :D Fleet 05-05-2007, 07:11 PM [FONT=Georgia][SIZE=3][COLOR=blue]Happy Weekend Everyone! What's everyone have going on? I am having a fun weekend! "Captain Kirk" and "Mr. Spock" stopped over for a visit. I discovered that Spock likes tea! ;) Here they are in my hallway, just before they were beamed aboard the Enterprise. Courtnee 05-05-2007, 08:08 PM the headphones I was going to buy today cost $40. &^%#!!! Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 08:27 PM My day's been good so far. I've spent most of today cleaning, and relaxing. In a little bit, I'm probably going to go recycle the beer cans that my brother gave me. Last time he did that, I got $30.00 out of it. It looks like there's about $15.00 worth this time. My friend also asked me if I wanted to go to the movies with her when she gets off work, so that's probably how I'll be ending my Saturday. Not sure what we're going to see, but I'm sure we'll have a good time regardless. Until then, I'm just going to sit on my butt next to Salem, and enjoy the Piston's game. I hope you're all having a great day!! :) Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 11:05 PM Awwwww, what a great picture..Salem, is definitely in my prayers; give your doggy a big hug for me:) Oh, I sure will Tara!!! :) This'll be about the 20th hug I've given her on behalf of others. lol! She definitely leaves a good impression on lots of people!! :D Hope your weekend's going great Tara!!!  Brad Russ 05-05-2007, 11:54 PM My friend also asked me if I wanted to go to the movies with her when she gets off work, so that's probably how I'll be ending my Saturday. Not sure what we're going to see, but I'm sure we'll have a good time regardless. Well, it looks like I'm going to see Spiderman 3. I'm pretty nervous since there's bound to be a packed theatre, but I'm sure I'll be fine once my anxiety meds kick in. If I can handle a packed airport during Spring break, I'm sure I can handle this!! Janice 05-06-2007, 01:01 AM Here is a photo of my "puppy." :D Your puppy is so cute Fleet, that he almost looks like a stuffed animal. ;) Fleet 05-06-2007, 01:10 AM Your puppy is so cute Fleet, that he almost looks like a stuffed animal. ;) Yeah, now that you mention it, he does look like a stuffed animal. :D Janice 05-06-2007, 01:13 AM My weekend got off to a good start, as my dog Salem made it successfully through her surgery around 5:00 pm yesterday!! :) That's the best news I've heard it a while. I'm so excited for Salem! God blessed that little sweetheart, and she's going to live to be 17! :) :dog: :dog:  Janice 05-06-2007, 01:35 AM My wife and I picked up our new German Shepard puppy last night. I'm glad to hear that you and your wife have a new puppy. As you know, animals...the same as people, cannot be replaced. I wish you many wonderful years with your new little love. Ags2000 05-06-2007, 02:36 AM I worked until about 4 tonight then took a nap and went and saw the fight. Tomorrow I am planning on sleeping in, washing clothes, and meeting some co-workers in the afternoon to do some more work. D freshprinceofLA 05-06-2007, 03:38 AM saturday was such a boring day bandito 05-06-2007, 09:09 AM I'm sorry to hear about your dog Bandito. That's good that Salem did well during the surgery Brad. Everytime I see that picture of Salem it reminds me of my dog Max. He looked so much like your dog Salem. It's been almost seven years now since he passed away.Thank's Jen :) bandito 05-06-2007, 09:12 AM Bandito, I'm so very sorry to hear of your dog's passing. I know the pain of losing a beloved animal. Fleet 05-06-2007, 03:09 PM I just realized something: I don't drink coffee, so I shouldn't be posting in this thread. :D Is tea close enough? Brieannas21 05-06-2007, 04:09 PM Yesterday we went to the Carnival and stayed there half of the day. Today we went to church and then to a church picnic then home. So we're not doing much today, just rest. I spent my Saturday, shopping at Wal*Mart. I bought these, really cute earring for ONLY 3 bucks and a black scarf that I am going to wear as a belt..awwww, yes, I think my Miss Hollywood days are waning:lol:    cute post. swedeace 05-07-2007, 12:07 AM I'm late replying to this thread because I have been out of town since Friday morning! Anyway...I had a great weekend! I was visitng my maternal cousins in Juarez, Mexico. On Friday, we just hung out and rested at their house after all that travel my sister and I endured. My cousin Cecy and her husband, Lazaro, opened up their beauty salon on Saturday, so it was their grand opening. I gave them some business by getting a haircut, colored my hair, and bought three bottles of nailpolish. :D After that, my aunt Elvira invited us to two of her relatives' birthday party at a rented salon. Sunday - Cecy and Lazaro invited us to breakfast for menudo (YUM!! ), and then we went shopping in the downtown Juarez area with my aunt Elvira. Then, we met up with my mom and took the bus back home. Now, I am back! *yawns* Boy, am I pooped! Fleet 05-07-2007, 01:09 AM As mentioned in the weather post, I did some hiking in the local hills. While I was over there, I thought I would check out "the tree." A palm tree which was planted as a movie prop in the 1940s and left there and somehow survived. It's still there and looks good! Fleet 05-07-2007, 01:26 AM Where is this? pretty!!! A secret location, known only to me. ;) Okay, actually along the railroad tracks in Chatsworth Park South, at the end of Devonshire St., west of Topanga Canyon Blvd. You have to do a little climbing to get to it. Brad Russ 05-07-2007, 01:38 AM ****ty day today. Just head over heels in love with a woman who wants to be just friends, and it's been hitting me extra hard today. Nothing new, we've all been there. I'm sure tomorrow will be better. :) Brad Russ 05-07-2007, 01:49 AM Thanks for your kind words Janice, Jen, and Mike!! :D Salem is getting better with each passing day!! :) Fleet 05-07-2007, 01:51 AM Coool, thanks for the info. I need to check Chatsworth Park South one of these days when I am in the Valley. You should like it. It is very active on the weekends. Today there were two volleyball games, some other kind of game I couldn't figure out (kicking a ball around posts) and basketball. I was able to snap a few pictures when the train was going by, in between the two tunnels... Fleet 05-07-2007, 03:04 AM So pretty..I have never been there before and I would love to check out, once again, thanks for sharing the pix and the info:) Here, read all about it! http://www.lamountains.com/parks.asp?parkid=71 http://employees.oxy.edu/jerry/chatpark.htm It's kind of sad that most tourists don't go there- they head straight for Hollywood, Disneyland, Universal Studios, etc., but not this place. Maybe because it's kind of remote compared to Los Angeles. Try to go on the first Sunday of the month because the Hill-Palmer cottage and museum are open (1-4 PM)... http://www.historicalsocieties.net/cottage.html One of the last remaining homesteads in the Los Angeles area. Fleet 05-07-2007, 03:08 AM On relatively short climbs, the view is great... Brad Russ 05-07-2007, 03:27 AM Brad...I know how you feel, my friend; if you want someone to talk to, please, I am always there for you:):bighug: I know you are Tara, and I know you can relate with what I'm going through more than just about anyone. I'm sooo thankful to have you as a friend, and I thank you for being there for me. The pain is so unreal as you know, but it's having friends like you to turn to that make it so much easier. I know you're just an email or phone call away, and I thank you for that. You can bet I'll be contacting you soon!! :) :bighug: Fleet 05-07-2007, 03:31 AM WOW, I can see that, stunning:thumbsup: :) Hot in the summer, though, so don't wait too long to go! BTW, that last photo, the panoramic one... on the right where all those rocks are- there used to be an actual indian village. With tepees, too. The dirt there is dark because of campfires during hundreds of years. And what was the village is not far from where the stagecoach trail used to be. Fleet 05-07-2007, 03:52 AM Ha, honey how I know it...the Valley is HOT in the summer time. I remember one time I was in the Reseda/Tarzana area..and it was like one in the morning and it was STILL (like) 80 degrees and muggy, too. And it seems even warmer there because in the hills, there aren't many trees to provide shade. But there are a lot of trees in the park itself. Let me know if you get over there; I would like to know what you thought of it. |
