I was wondering what the majority does when you transfer a show from your vhs to dvd ... do you keep the original vhs tapes or do you tape over them? I used to tape shows and cut out the commercials (way back when tapes were more expensive) but not I just tape everything. I just got the full season of Phil of the Future (Disney) and am going to be transferring them to DVD - so was wondering if I should keep the vhs tapes too.

Also, are you keeping all your prerecorded vhs tapes of tv shows and movies when you switch to the dvd versions? And what do we do with all those vhs tapes now? Do you donate them to Goodwill or keep them or toss them or sell them if you can? I called one place and they offered 50 cents a tape (most places don't want them). ut what's weird is that so many shows and movies aren't available on dvd so to get rid of the vhs versions is foolish.

I keep them all in storage. You never know when the DVD might get damaged or just **** out on you. Always nice to have the old tape as a backup if you need it....

Your best bet to get rid of your prerecords is to sell them as a lot on Ebay. The ones that have not been released on DVD could be worth something. If you have the time, check what they have gone for on Ebay, or check Amazon.com's marketplace, or half.com for the used ones and what the sellers list them for. I'd sell those individually if noone else has it, or there are just a few out there.
