TV titan Oprah Winfrey is to quit her hit daily show when her contract ends in five years--so she can concentrate on putting child predators behind bars.

The beloved multimedia icon told talk-show hoat Larry King that she plans to dedicate her time to heroic causes when her show, Oprah, ends in 2012.

In an interview that aired on Tuesday, she told the CNN anchorman, "I have four or five years left on my show, and when I'm done with that contract, I'm done. Then I want to change the laws, state by state, for child predators in this country. And that's what I want to have done.

"I won't be satisfied until that is done. The children of the United States are being stolen, raped, tortured, and killed by sexual predators. I want the laws to change."

Winfrey has been active in putting a handful of on-the-run perverts behind bars after launching a campaign to name and shame America's most wanted child predators on her show.

I seen that interview.

I am glad to hear of her desire to do this with the sexual monsters that lurk among us and our children. Anything to make it safer and to keep those bastards behind bars is a good idea.

I have to agree. I admire Oprah for doing something positive with her money and time.

So true. I loved her comment on Larry's show when he asked her abt the Don Imus controversy. She stated why do people let words have that much power? BRAVO OPRAH!!!!! Exactly! Why give that much power to words? She stated the women's basketball team said those words tarnished their hard work all year long. Oprah said the team shouldn't let such words take control over what they did, they were just words.

I wonder why she is waiting 5 years. Surely with her resources, she could get the ball rolling now. Every day that goes by, kids are harmed. I would think she could devote some time now, or hire a lobbying firm to get the ball rolling until she could go into it full time.

In five years she can devote FULL TIME her attention to this issue. She has already helped in that area as far as helping with $$$$, using her show to get information out, having shows that deal with such issues, etc. When she no longer has her show to focus on, she can devote more time to that issue as well as continue with all the other charitable causes she does.

28 years.

Oprah knows that her opinions have a lot of power, so it's good that she's using them for a good cause.
