LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Anna Nicole Smith's ex-boyfriend arrived in Kentucky from the Bahamas on Tuesday with their infant daughter and said he is looking forward to introducing the baby to his family.

"It just feels good to be home," Larry Birkhead said after stepping off a private jet and walking up to a fence where more than a dozen photographers and a handful of reporters were gathered.

Birkhead said he plans to show off 7-month-old Dannielynn to his family in Louisville and "relax and horse around."

He said his plans include attending the Barnstable Brown party on Friday, an exclusive celebrity-packed gala on the eve of the Kentucky Derby. The event is where he and Smith first met when he was working as a freelance photographer.

At a private terminal at the Louisville airport, people could be seen moving a variety of baby gear off the plane and into the back of an SUV.

Birkhead, dressed in a dark T-shirt and jeans, shielded the baby from view with a jacket.

Birkhead, a 34-year-old photographer based in Los Angeles, said he's unsure if he will stay in Louisville with his daughter.

"This is one pit stop," Birkhead said.

The plane Birkhead arrived in was chartered by the TV show "Access Hollywood" to bring its reporting team back from the Bahamas.

"We were excited to take them to a happy homecoming in Louisville," the show said in a statement.

"Access Hollywood" has promoted its planned coverage of a family reunion in Kentucky, but a show publicist said the program did not compensate Birkhead for its exclusive access. She said the program's parent company, NBC Universal, does have a deal with him but she could not describe the terms.

It was the first trip out of the Bahamas for Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead, who was born in September only three days before Smith's adult son, Daniel, died at her hospital bedside from a lethal combination of drugs.

Smith, 39, collapsed and died in February from an accidental drug overdose. She was buried beside her son at a Nassau cemetery.

Birkhead was authorized by a judge last week to take Dannielynn out of the Bahamas. The ruling followed legal battles by Birkhead to prove his paternity claim and gain custody following the former Playboy playmate's death in February.

A new Bahamian birth certificate listing Birkhead as the father was issued in line with a court order last week, removing the name of Smith's last companion, Howard K. Stern. Stern had been caring for the girl in the oceanfront home in the Bahamas he shared with Smith.

Legal wrangling continues over the estate of Smith's late husband, Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II, who died in 1995. It remains unclear how much, if any, of the $500 million Marshall estate Dannielynn might inherit and whether her guardian would have access to the money. Birkhead is a Kentucky native who graduated from the University of Louisville in 1999.

It's good that she'll finally have a somewhat normal life.

But I think its funny he said he wouldn't use her for cash yet he sold photos of her passport to the media. Poor kids got a rough life ahead of her.

I think she's going to have a nice life. Larry seems like a decent man, and from what I've read, he has a wonderful family. He has no drug problems or any other obvious issues. He has a daughter to raise. Nothing wrong with making some money. I expect magazine articles, tv interviews, a book, movie, whatever...the whole nice yards. It's not going to harm her. Nicole and Stern sold pictures of Danielle hours before he died.

I think she'll have a better life with Larry than she would have had with Anna. I liked Anna too, but I think that's true.

I wish them both much happiness, and hope they can now lead a somewhat normal life as well.

Sooo glad to hear it worked out the way it should have (and I hate to say it, but even if Nicole were still alive).

I knew all along she was his - she's the spitting image of him. ;)

Also glad to see that it seems Stern is actually a good guy and didn't try to fight tooth and nail. I've always thought he was a scumbag, but he came thru afterall.

Best of luck and love in life to the both of them.

Hey Janice - when did you change the avatar? It's a good one!!

Good news. Now that Stern has handed over the baby that didn't belong to him, when will he get out of the house he's living in where the owners want him out?

I plan on waiting 15 years and seeing a People Magazine with an update. Only time will tell how she fairs in life.

Kramer and the chicken. Hilarious. Go for it! I'm thinking of the soup nazi soon. LOL at your avatar. Cathie, I told you, please don't stress over writing back to me. I know you're very busy. I know I sent you a novel. Even if you just drop a quick paragraph here and there...I actually prefer that anyway. I can't write long PMs or e:mails anymore due to my neck and back problems...but I exchange quick hits all the time with Brian D., Sonny (Walking Tall), Brad (Little Mel), TJL, Fleet...a few others. Those are a lot of fun too.

Last night, Sonny and I e:mailed for about an hour about the shows Lost and Shark. I thought to myself at one point that we should be posting what we were writing on SO.

I do miss you on the boards, and I love it when you come around.

LOL Brian. I love that first picture, but I can't find a lighter version. Is there a way you can lighten it up for me?

Yeah, he doesn't look as intimidating in the 2nd pic (actually, he's a heck of a good looking guy)!! You just need the caption, "NO SOUP FOR YOU!"

Wish I had my Adobe Elements loaded on this pc at home - I could lighten it for you (really easy) although I think Microsoft Photo Editor can do it too.

Yeah - I'm having the same issue with the neck thing too - have to take frequent breaks. No more of those marathon, sitting for hours posting on about 20 threads at a time! ;)

Good for him. I'm glad he can finally spend time with his daughter.
