I wasn't born until a few years after the ending of COEF, but it seems to me that when I was a little kid in the 80s, it was shown in syndication/reruns. Other than that, I have never seen the show. In any event, I have a very strong childhood recollection of a scene I saw on TV, and I have been trying to find its origin. I think it may be from COEF.
Here is what I remember: A little boy and a man are together in a boat, possibly a sailboat, and the little boy is talking about his friend Sam (i use the name Sam for convenience because I can't remember the actual name), and he refers to him as "my Jewish friend Sam". The boy says something to the effect that because he has a Jewish friend, he can't possibly be prejudiced. To which the man replies, if you say "my Jewish friend Sam" rather than just "my friend Sam" it makes you prejudiced. Kind of like, the man was trying to teach the boy a lesson of sorts. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
That's all I remember, and it may seem like a small memory, but it's actually very vivid to me, and has haunted me for years. Maybe I am remembering it so well because I am Jewish myself! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif
Anyways, if this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know! Thanks! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
