I love the show all in the family but I think it was the worst theme song I heard. It got even worse in the last season Archie's voice got weaker.

I give it a: 3 there are worse theme songs than that.
what do you rate the theme song

I love the theme song too. I give it a 10 as well...I think it`s so funny. I love when Edith`s voice goes really high. That always cracks me up.

I think some of you are confusing the theme song with how great the show was, it's no way the AITF theme song gets a 10-lol Maybe the Show but defintely not the theme song

LOL, I must be the only one who hates the theme song but love the show. Everytime it comes on, I have to put the tv on mute. What kills me when Edith sings in the high pitched voice. Sheesh that irritates me LOL!

The theme song was never one of my favorites but I just fell on the floor laughing the first time I heard The Simpsons parody. It had Homer and Marge singing at the piano, to the tune of the All In the Family theme:

Homer: Boy, the way the Bee Gees played,
Marge: Movies John Travolta made,
Homer: Guessing how much Elvis weighed,
Homer & Marge: Those were the days!
Marge: And you knew where you were then,
Homer: Watching shows like "Gentle Ben",
Homer & Marge: Mister, we could use a man like Sheriff Lobo again!
Homer: Disco Duck and Fleetwood Mac,
Marge: Coming out of my eight-track,
Homer & Marge: Michael Jackson still was black, those were the days!

I like it! And it was perfect for the show I think. Although it did take me about 27 years to find out they were singing, "Gee our old LaSalle ran great"!!!

Sure beats the theme song to the Facts of Life. I can't help screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs when that comes on - actually like Edith sings "Those We The Days". :happyface

Yep - think Cadillac put it out during the 30s (maybe later too). Pretty nifty lookin' for it's time!

The theme song is not my favorite either, but I tolerate it. I like the closing theme better.

The opening theme was re-recorded, I think starting with the 6th season. Some viewers were having a hard time understanding some of the words. When you listen to the newer version, Edith sings the lines "Everybody pulled his weight" and "Gee our old La Salle ran great" very clearly.

The song was ok but Edith's voice was like the screech of chalk on a blackboard. I still kind of like it though.
