^ I agree about Liz & Lucky. No knock on Jacob Young or Greg Vaughan, but Jonathan Jackson is the only REAL Lucky Spencer in my book. He and Rebecca Herbst had amazing chemistry, and their love story after her rape (he basically became her protector and friend, then they SLOWLY fell in love) was incredible. I believe that story won GH a writing Emmy.

You mean a masochistic relationship especially on Holly's part, but Maureen Garret and Michael Zaslow were so good.

I've watched some vintage clips of Search for Tomorrow on YouTube fans, and I have to say that Travis and Liza Sentell (Rod Arrants and the late Sherry Mathis) had tons of chemistry and then some. They were so romantic - and happy!! THAT'S how a soap couple should be written. :nod:

Santa Barbara's first official supercouple, Kelly Capwell (Robin Wright) and Joe Perkins (Dane Witherspoon) were hot, hot, hot!!! The fact that the actors had fallen for each other at first sight at the auditions made their characters' willingness to move mountains to be together just came across like a beacon.

Anyway, after only 3 months the show's debut, Dane Witherspoon was canned by the SB writers over some kind of dispute. The replacement actor had NO chemistry with Robin Wright and found himself off SB as well 3 months later when the character was killed. Robin Wright herself made no bones about the fact she was unhappy about the casting change in the soap press of the time.

The Dobsons (creators/exec producers of SB) made a HUGE mistake in getting rid of Dane Witherspoon/Joe. Had he stayed on, I think he and Kelly would've rivaled Eden/Cruz and Mason/Julia in the supercouple department. I also wonder if maybe the Wright/Witherspoon marriage would've lasted if that had happened. They wed in 1986 only to divorce two years later. What a shame, because they seemed so much in love - I was surprised that they got some things past the censors in their kissing scenes - I noticed him slipping her the tongue more than once!!! :lol:

I've watched more and more Santa Barbara clips. Eden and Cruz were magic, as were (and are) their portrayers!! :love: Not only that, the original songs written for the couple, such as "The Change in Me is You", "All My Life" and "Shelter From the Storm" are gorgeous (and you can hear them all on YouTube!).
