View Full Version : Reunion special not mentioned on DVD
TeeVeeCloset 04-27-2007, 11:20 AM I found it very odd that the reunion special is not listed anywhere as a bonus feature on the box or discs of the newly released season one set...considering season one only has 15 episodes, it would have made sense for sony to at least advertise the bonus feature reunion special on the outer or at least inner sleeves......I will never understand how these things make it passed the executives at studios...what a bonehead move!

Well why did the poster of this thread say it wasn't listed on the Disc?
NancyEiE 04-30-2007, 06:53 PM Teeveecloset maybe you got a bad copy and should contact the place you got it from. Because on my disk 2 it lists the reunion also.
TeeVeeCloset 05-08-2007, 12:27 PM I never said the reunion special was not actually on the dvd set, I said it is not advertised as a bonus feature anywhere on the outer box or inner cases......putting on the menu (which of course is expected) does nothing for the average consumer who is looking at the set in the stores and deciding whether or not to buy it or not....it is standard to list the bonus features as a selling point, especially when studios want to make every buck possible to maybe ensure future season releases...my question is...and let's see how long it takes to get off topic........isn't it strange that there is no written wording stating the reunion special is on the dvd set on the outer back box or at least inside plastic dvd case holders...the menu doesn't count.

I actually never knew it was on there either until I saw it advertised on amazon.com...and that was after I bought it so I know exactly what your talking about!
I just happened to go there to see how much it was online because a friend wanted to know how much it was online compared to the store's prices.
BTW, first time poster here  *waves shyly* I'm so glad this show is coming out on dvd! I used to watch it YEARS ago when it was on TV! I actually just got my 16 year old sister hooked on it today:D

First congratulations on your first post and it kept us on topic and thanks for understanding what I meant.......it is great you got your 16 year old sister watching the show.....we need to get the series some younger fans!
DJM77 05-15-2007, 11:51 PM For some reason part of the reunion is missing from the dvd.

I haven't watched the reunion on the DVd yet. I have it taped when it was shown on television and it filled an hour time slot. Without the commercials it might only clock in at 35-40 minutes. Hour long shows are extremely short today.
DJM77 05-16-2007, 07:48 PM On the dvd it clocks in at just over 38 minutes. The clip with Barbara in the old folks home singing "Hey Big Spender" or whatever that was is missing. The "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" duo by Julie and Barbara is missing. The casts conversation about Elton John is missing. I dunno maybe they had copyright issues with the music or something.

Like I said in another thread, I think they just didn't want to spend money on clearing the music for a mere extra. However all the original music (as far as I know) is left in place on the episodes in the set. It's just more reason for me to believe that they left the music out intentionally because they felt it wasn't necessary to spend money on an extra. I bet in future sets those missing reunion clips will be left in the episodes because it would be part of the initial set and not just an extra.

What music is still intact from season one episodes? I don't know of any that was ever included......also
as for the pathetic music edits in the reunion special, so much for ever seeing a season two release containing the Val & Mac Elton duet! The three new years eve music episodes will never ever be released at that rate! Luckily I have them all......tv dvd releases are becoming a real drag lately....happy days 2, wkrp, etc

There was one episode where Barbara was playing an Elton John record in her room. It sounds like the original recording. I haven't watched all of the 1st season yet so I don't know if there's anymore.
