Starting Over

Starring Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Tempestt Bledsoe to reprise their former "Cosby Show" characters- Theo Huxtable and Vanessa Huxtable-Logan, in this new sitcom. Takes place after Theo and Vanessa decide to move into a Brooklyn duplex together (along with Theo's son and Vanessa's girls). Theo and his late wife, Justine have one 12-year-old son, Shawn together. Justine had died giving birth to their second child, who was stillborn. The age gap between their son, Shawn and the second pregnancy which caused two deaths to the family is explained that Justine and Theo couldn't get pregnant and had many false alarms (and decided to take a break in trying to have another child). Theo has been working as a high school Current Events teacher for the past ten years. As for Vanessa, she met Charlie (Martin Lawrence) shortly after she and Dabnis split up for the second time. Charlie and Vanessa had gotten married, and together had two precious daughters: 10-year-old Danica and 6-year-old Anneliese. Recently, Charlie and Vanessa have been having martial troubles, resulting in a separation. Charlie decides to have the girls stay with Vanessa, as he goes off to "find himself" and he takes off one night without "official notice", according to Vanessa. Vanessa is currently working at an upscale department store as a sales girl, where is she is befriended by her co-workers/friends: her former childhood best friend, Janet Meiser (Pam Potillo) and the hardworking, fashionista Carrie Newton (Wendy Raquel Robinson). Chances are that Carrie's beloved husband, Dave Newton (Duane Martin), works with Theo as the high school science teacher and becomes a confidente of Theo's as well. Theo and Vanessa must work together, yet separately to raise own children single-handedly (after Justine's death and Charlie's absense).

Cliff and Claire sold their Brooklyn brownstone, and has been living in Miami, Florida in a very nice, exclusive retirement village. Cliff and Claire are now both retired and enjoying the retired, child-free lifestyle that they once dreamed of.

Sondra, Elvin, and the twins are living in Connecticut still. Sondra is working as a lawyer once again, as Elvin is working as a doctor once again--after the wilderness store went under. Winnie and Nelson are away at college; Winnie's majoring in Business, with minor in Fashion Merchandising. Nelson's majoring in Law, with minor in Psychology.

Denise and Martin are living in Virginia. Martin is working as a major Navy recruiter's office, Denise is working as a Ethics Professor at a local community college which she just loves. Martin and Denise did have a son together (after the show ended), but due to a devastating car accident, Denise and Martin's then- 5-year-old son had been killed in impact.

Rudy did indeed marry longtime boyfriend, Kenny. Rudy and Kenny left the East Coast and are living in Chicago, where Rudy opened up her own private medical practice-specializing in pediatrics; and Kenny is working as a firefighter/ EMT paramedic. They have no children of their own just yet, and are focusing on their careers right now.

However, Olivia had moved out of Denise and Martin's house after she graduation from high school, spent a year living with her birthmother-Paula in Wisconsin. Olivia first attended beauty school while staying with her mother, where she obtained her degree in cosmetology. Now, Olivia has moved down to Florida, and attending Florida State University where she is majoring in Marketing/Business Administration--in hopes of owning her own beauty salon someday. Olivia's relationship with her father and Denise has been rocky ever since her "wild child" teenage years of rebellion.

But yes, the Huxtable family is make their appearances from time to time. Even though, the main focus is on Theo and Vanessa, and their kids and friends.

Meanwhile at the party, Vanessa can't "just relax and have fun" because she is worried about her ex Charlie-and what he will do next to try to see his daughters. In the end of the episode, Vanessa receives a letter from Charlie's attorney ordering her to go to court to settle on a custody agreement of her and Charlie's two daughters.
