Hey art lovers, TJL here.

I wanted to make something for my sister for her birthday this weekend, and I have been experimenting with some painting techniques to go along with my engraving, and I came up with a quick and easy project.

I bought a cheapo 5X7 metal picture frame at Bed Bath And Beyond this morning and after I sponged on a few layers of paint (1st layer grey, 2nd layer black) I etched in a vine pattern I copied off another small picture frame I have in my room.

Voila! Let me know what you think.

This one I finished last night.
I've been wanting to try some 2 dimensional stuff to use with frames, and these small magnetic frames i found at BB&B worked perfectly.

The background trees are etched out on a painted steel plate, and the foreground tree is cut out of a pie plate and dry brushed with paint to match the other two trees. The front tree is glued to some wire I glued to the plate to give it a raised effect. The frame is painted the same way I painted the above one.

This piece is small, ony 3X4.

Sorry the picture isn't very sharp. My camera takes lousy pictures without a flash, and a flash causes too much reflection off the shiny parts of my work.

Thanks for all the kind words folks.

Here's another frame I finished today, similar in design to the first one. This one is a present for my Aunt for Mother's day.

9th Avenue Design is the name of my little arts and crafts company. I had those cards made up a few weeks ago.

Another mini frame project, a combination of engraving, cutouts, and a tiny painted tree.

Very nice Tom, but none of it is as nice as the 4-leaver clover charm that you sent me for St. Patty's Day. ;)

Since I finished my frame projects, i decided to make some new pendants.

I wanted to do some with a "native" theme, so i etched these from some pictures I saw on Wikipedia.

I hope I don't owe some Native American tribe money for using these designs.

;)
