View Full Version : A question for parents
MonarC 04-24-2007, 06:52 PM What would you suggest to help a teething baby. My little one is 3 months old and he is having the worst time with teething. I try teething rings and they only help for a few min. What worked for you when your baby went through this?
When my son was teething I rubbed "Baby Ora-Gel" on his gums. I guess they still make it & it did help him. I used to get it at Wal-Mart.

Yeah Baby Oral gel works but I didn't like putting that on my daughters gums all the time, So I would put thier teething rings in the freezer and let them freeze, that way they can suck on it for a while (buy the liquid filled teething rings.) And you can also get a wash cloth, wet it, put it in the freezer and let he/she chew on that, They can chew on that for hrs.
Ireneparalegal 04-24-2007, 08:59 PM Try a frozen waffle for your baby to chew on. I also used the baby orajel stuff. Some Tylenol will help temporarily.

My friend did the waffle thing and her son started to choke because when the area of the waffle that he was chewing on got soft he gnawed off a pretty good size chunk and I guess it went down the wrong way, and he started to choke. So that's why I never tried the waffles, that scared me to death.

That's why one needs to watch the baby as he/she is chewing on it and as soon as it softens, turn the waffle over or give a new waffle. Because the waffle is frozen, the baby shouldn't really hold it because it is so cold, better you hold it and this way you can keep a good eye on it.

MonarC 05-21-2007, 08:38 PM OMG! Today was horrible.
:crybaby:
Nothing worked. I tried the frozen rag thingy, teething rings, I gave him a bath to calm him down I tried feeding him. I even gave him infant tylenol. It took 3 hours of screaming till he finally wore himself out and fell asleep. This mom thing is not easy at all. :faint:

Try a shot of vodka for yourself! ;) Just kidding sweetie.
I know, we know, the dramas of being a parent. Last night I was up most of the night because my 5 year old was throwing up. He wouldn't run to the bathroom, so, I had to be on alert and have the wastebasket ready for him to vomit in. I was soooooooooo damn tired this morning. I still feel tired.
We mothers know how you feel and what you are going through. Hang in there.
MonarC 05-21-2007, 08:46 PM Thanks for the shot. :drink: And thanks for the support. Hugs for you. :bighug:

the teething months aren't easy, but it'll go by fast.
MonarC 05-21-2007, 09:30 PM I hope so. Being a mom is the hardest thing I have ever done. But also the most rewarding. :)

OMG! Hey all you moms out there. Look what I found. It's amazing. It's a Massaging Corn Teether. When the baby bites on it, it has gentle vibrations to soothe his gums. It really works. It's the only thing that seems to give my baby relief. Click the link below to buy it. Or just go to Wal-Mart they have it there too. :)

It never fails. Waaaay after the fact, something great for moms/babies always comes out. I wish they had that when my kids were teething. That is soooo cute!
