After a painful month as far as the butchering of classic TV shows on DVD, almost as painful as it gets, it seems May is getting off to just as bad a start. A new painful thread on the Home Theater Forum states that yet another classic show has been slaughtered from its original form... after we had finally gotten past all of those cheap PD releases, the professional set, um, isn't that professionally done after all. You guessed it... The Best of the Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet from Shout! contains the 22-minute syndicated cuts aired on the Disney Channel in the 80s... every SINGLE episode is cut, according to a man who received the set early thanks to a giveaway contest (I guess I have to keep in mind that it's possible he got the wrong set, but it seems like this is going to be the final version we all receive). My heart sunk when I heard this, and I was so looking forward to the set... although, as is the case with HD and WKRP, I will still show my support for the show by buying it (and even if the episodes are cut, we're still getting a generous helping of extras, though any-which way you look at it, this news about the edited versions of the episodes sucks).

No sale. Besides, I have almost all of the episodes in this set from film transfers with original commercials. Like many substandard DVD releases, it's fine if you just started collecting TV shows but for those of use who have been in the game for a couple of decades, we have better sources available to us.
