i was Reading The fresh prince cast biography on imbd and discovered that Daphne Maxwell Reid was nominated For Emmys in season 5 and 6.
and that Janet Hubert Whitten- Was never nominated During the entire show Run.
okay Iam A Fan Of The Second Aunt Vivian and i like the first Vivian too,but i was surprise to see that that Daphne was nominated twice for the fresh prince and Janet was never nominated.

Really?? I never thought the second Vivian's performance was Emmy worthy. The first Vivian on the other hand was deserving of a nomination.

I totally agree. She did not do anything on the show. Even on the Soul Train episode when she was dancing she couldn't even do that. Janet Hubert-Whitten can dance if you saw the episode of Vivian's 40th birthday when she tried out to be a dancer she got down. If Janet was still on the show doing that episode she would had tore up the Soul Train dance floor.

it doesn't matter really as awards ceremonies, whether that'll be for tv, film, music whatever, which are not voted by the fans or the public are pointless anyway. and no offence to daphne herself but so what if she got nominated. at the end of the day, it's the fans of the fresh prince of whom preferred janet's viv more than daphne's

Hmmm... I agree. What's up with that? The first Vivian was so much better than the second.

I have a different perspective, most likely because I only saw the show for the first time not quite two years ago. When I first started watching, it was the second Vivian. I thought Ms. Reid was fantastic. A solid actress. When the show finished the run and started from the beginning, I then saw the first Vivian. Again, I though Ms. Whitten was a terrific and solid actress.

It's possible that some (not all) viewers don't care for the second Vivian because they were attached to the first one. Perhaps if Ms. Reid originated the role, sentiments would be different. I think they're equally talented, and both handled the role of Vivian Banks with dignity and grace. I think they're both class acts.

But still, I find Daphne so bland. She only stood there looking pretty. Janet, however, had personality. Of course, it's less obvious how bland Daphne is, when you don't compare her to Janet. But it's still strange, that Daphne was nominated, when Janet wasn't.
