View Full Version : Weekend Coffee Chat!
Janice 04-21-2007, 03:03 AM Happy Weekend Everyone! I've got the coffee on for the early risers. It's my friend's birthday, so she's coming over on Sunday. It's going to be sunny and 70 degrees, so we'll fire up the grill and cook some steaks.
That's about it, and watching my husband's meltdown with the Red Sox/Yankee series this weekend, lol.
Number 9 Dream 04-21-2007, 07:47 AM Morning
Not much planned today except for work (as usual). It's going to be such a warm day today (something like 70 degrees!) I have to write a paper when I get home :(
Brieannas21 04-21-2007, 08:54 AM Today we're taking the girls to this lake for the first time. We're also taking the jet ski's out for the first time in years. So today should be an eventful day.
Courtnee 04-21-2007, 09:11 AM We're going to the Air Show today. Hopefully, I'll get stuff autographed by the Thunderbirds. My dad says they're jerks, I don't know why. I've meet some of the guys before and they seemed nice.

Brian Damage 04-21-2007, 10:14 AM I really don't have any special plans for this weekend. Maybe I'll catch a movie, but other than that, my life lately is a bit dull. LOL
gilligan fanatic 04-21-2007, 10:39 AM I am off today so I plan to goof around the house.
swedeace 04-21-2007, 11:05 AM Good morning! It's currently 9:01 a.m. 'round here in my MDT time zone.
I woke up nearly an hour ago, and I feel refreshed! I had such a lonnnnnnnnnng day yesterday with my sister's graduation and then dinner at Chili's to celebrate after the ceremony. The graduation was nice but too long. It got to a rocky, uncomfortable start in the beginning, but it ended up being a good ceremony. The food and get-together was fun!
Not sure about what I'm doing today, but I do know I am gonna veg in the morning, work in the afternoon, and I promised my sister to have a "Game Night" this evening. I will call her to see if she's still on for it. If others are busy and can't make it, then my sister and I can just hang out and do something or go somewhere.
Oh, and by the way, my headache was based on hormones because I feel better as of yesterday afternoon. What a miracle...right before all of the graduation stuff going on! Right on time!
Brad Russ 04-21-2007, 12:37 PM My weekend got off to a pretty sad start. My neighbor, and best friend came over at about 8:00 am this morning, crying. She got a call this morning from her best friend from childhood, telling her that her mother had died. :( My friend is in shock over this, because this woman was like a second mother to her, so she's really hurting right now. She gave me the key to her house to take care of her dog and everything, and took the day off from work to be there for her best friend. I fortunately had the opportunity to meet this woman over Christmas, and she was an incredibly sweet person. She didn't even know me, but she spent alot of time talking to me, and spoke to me as if she had known me her whole life. I'm honored to have gotten the chance to meet her, and my prayer is that she is in a better place now, and that God comfort her family, as well as my friend at this difficult time. May She Rest In Eternal Peace!!! If any of you think of it, please say a prayer for this woman, as well as her daughter, and my friend today. They could really use it, and it would be much appreciated!! Thanks so much!!!

Wow Brad, that is horrible. How old was she? What did she die from?

I'm not sure, my friend was only here for a few minutes before rushing over to her friends house, so I got little info on what happened. I'm going to see her later tonight though, so I'll probably find out more then. I do know that she has had health problems for awhile, and was on oxygen, and I believe she was in her 60's. She was so full of life though, and even in the state she was in, she was always so active, and happy. Definitely someone who truly lived life to it's fullest, until the very end.

freshprinceofLA 04-21-2007, 01:28 PM My plan for today
watch some NBA playoff games (right now watching the nets vs raptors)
play some basketball with friends.
Get some ipod speakers
Dr. Jazz 04-21-2007, 01:40 PM I start work in four hours and I'll be on shift till 6:00 tomorrow morning. Had a double-shooting last night and it took almost five hours for me and two other officers to complete the report - Gotta get everything right, then triple-check it lol Tonight, I'll have a new officer fresh out of police academy riding along with me because I'll be training him on traffic stops and dealing with the winos lol Should be fun!
PZelda 04-21-2007, 01:48 PM Well, this gal is broke, so she's not going shopping anytime soon. Looks like I'll be staying in today... I desperately need to do my laundry and homework (blech). A real good friend of mine is moving today and she just happens to be moving into a place that is the next street over from me (woohoo!), so I'll head on down there sometime today. :)
And that's all for today, as far as I know.
dawsongirl 04-21-2007, 01:58 PM I should be home, cleaning the kitchen floor. Instead I'm sitting on my ass at my boyfriend's place, thinking I should vacuum.
Already Gone 04-21-2007, 02:34 PM I'm doing my spring cleaning today. I bought some tops for work and came home and had a salad for lunch. I'm taking a break before I go outside to do yard work. It's in the 70's here and a good day to be outside.
Tomorrow, I'll probably do alot of walking or just sit outside and read.
Courtnee 04-21-2007, 02:57 PM I just came back from the air show.
Quite possibly the greatest day I've had in a long time. My uncle Terry GAVE (not borrow, but freaking GAVE) me his old camera (it's 5 mp with a 2.5 lcd monitor) and I took some pictures of the planes with it. Sadly, he has to send me the cord so I can't upload them now. :(
...and my brother and I got our book autographed by the Thunderbirds. We're heading up to the show again at about 3 CST to see them perform. :)
Hollow 04-21-2007, 04:40 PM so i had this dream about all kinds of scary drama going on in my family and woke up to find out minutes later that my dad is about to call the cops on my ex stepmom (whom he hasn't seen in over a year but knows i still keep in touch with) because she's been blackmailing and slandering him over the internet.

BTW, did you all hear there was a Blue Angel jet that crashed into some homes at a South Carolina air show today and one fatality is reported so far. :(

Brian Damage 04-21-2007, 10:03 PM Wallowing in my misery as the Yankees lost again to the Red Sox. I told you so Janice. LOL

Last Night's loss was worst because they were up 6-3

I'm sorry to hear this Brad. It's always sad, but even more so when it's sudden. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
:bighug:

I'm guessing you like Nachos and Cheese. ;)
swedeace 04-22-2007, 08:50 AM Good morning! It's 6:47 a.m. over here!
Had a fun time having dinner and going out to a movie with my sister last night. We went to see Dream Girls. It was good, but it was a little too long. It was just a bit over two hours long!
Today I will have lunch with a friend I haven't had lunch with since February. We're going to meet up in a little over four hours from now. After that, I really need to get started on cleaning up. You know, I need to do some more thorough spring cleaning.
Courtnee 04-22-2007, 11:13 AM I have no clue what we're doing today. Probably take my realitives sight seeing or whatever. Maybe take them to the casinos. Yep. Casinos. Shreveport used to be called "the other sin city"...but that was back in the 50's when we meant something.
Brad Russ 04-22-2007, 04:14 PM Thanks for the thoughts and prayers Tara, Jen, and Janice!! :) I will definitely tell my friend that you all are thinking about her and her friend. I know it will give her comfort at this time.
I ended up taking care of her dog yesterday, and as I carried him outside, he ended up going to the bathroom all over the place. I spent about 45 minutes with my oxi clean, and rags trying to clean it up. With what she was going through, I didn't want her to have to come home to that as well. I'm taking care of him again today, running back and forth between my house, and hers. He's a good dog, I oughta get a picture of him sometime. :)
Right now I'm watching the Phoenix/Lakers game on ABC, and it's halftime. Kobe's on fire with 29 points at the half, and the Lakers are ahead by 9. I predicted that Kobe would score 51, while Nash would have 37, and 14 assists. I think the Suns will come alive in the second half, and take the game 119 to 111. I'm expecting a huge second half from Nash. Should be fun the rest of the way!!
Not much going on this weekend kids, laying low as they say. I'm hoping to take advantage of the nice weather coming up this week to do some bike riding and other things around town. One of the few nice things about being off work is that you can do lots of things during the week while everyone is at work.
Of course I would much rather be working. Yeah...
Yesterday i had a great day with my friends. Two of my old Gaf buddies have a birthday two days apart so about a a dozen of the Gaf Elite got together yesterday afternoon for some fun. We met at the Ear Inn, and old time dive bar on Spring Street to sit outside at the sidewalk tables and have some drinks. Then we headed over to Battery Park City to PJ CLarkes for some outdoor dining as the sun went down.
Several buckets of beer later, we decided to head over to the Racoon Lodge, another divey bar on Warren Street which is just a few blocks away from ground zero.
We played some pool and had an impromptu Big Buck Hunter tournament, and lots of laughs.
The party moved up to the East Side Gaf, but I was pretty tired so I headed back to the West Side Gaf for a nightcap before turning in.
The downside to the day was I think the allergies i developed last spring are coiming back again, since my head was all stuffed up most of the night.
Ah well, I have some singulair around here somewhere...
;)
Brian Damage 04-22-2007, 06:43 PM I went to visit my Father in law at the rehab center. I also took my kids outside to ride their bikes and play. I also did a couple of loads of laundry.
Brieannas21 04-22-2007, 06:47 PM Today we have nothing planned at all. This morning we went to Morning Mass. I'm still tired from yesterday
I'm probably going to head over to the Gaf in a while to watch the Yankees lose. I cannot believe they are doing so poorly in this series against the Red Sox.
And to think a certain Red Sox fan I know didn't think the Sox would win this weekend...
;)
freshprinceofLA 04-22-2007, 10:27 PM My parents, my aunt and my grandma went off to a wedding a couple hours ago. I actually i woke up at 3pm today after a rough night. I have to study for a biology test that's on monday. Also I've been watching a couple of NBA playoff games (missed the laker game) I watched spurs vs nuggets and now I'm watching the warriors & the mavs.
 :( This past week was really f*cked up!! cause of the V Tech shooting, & finding out I got a 48% grade overall in Algebra II.
I hope this week goes good!!!!!!!
Congrats to the Red Sox for setting a new team record - four consecutive home runs in a single inning...
Courtesy of the brilliant Yankees pitching.
:p
Man oh man I hate the Yankees!
Janice 04-23-2007, 02:10 AM And to think a certain Red Sox fan I know didn't think the Sox would win this weekend...

PZelda 04-23-2007, 02:50 PM Well, it was quite the weekend for me.
I had a bad, bad, bad start to my day yesterday. I ended up just taking off and covering a lot of this area on foot. I must've walked roughly 5-6 miles... urgh. I ended it by stopping at a McD's to grab some grub and having one of my girlfriends pick me up- the one who just moved this weekend. The McD's I stopped at was on her way to her old place, so we went there to pack up more stuff and to bring it over to her new place (just the next street over from me! :woohoo:).
A real good guy friend of mine also just got his own place too -- what is it with my friends and moving all of a sudden? Anyway, he called me at 10 last night and said if I wanted to crash at his new place, I was welcome to come on over. So, that's exactly what I did. Nice, relaxing way to finish off the weekend. :)
