View Full Version : What's your favorite intro?
floyd2006 04-17-2007, 11:50 AM I love those introductions when a show makes you laugh than they show the beginning credits so whats your favorite intro?
My favorite has to be coach, those intros just me laugh!
catlover79 04-17-2007, 12:22 PM Mine are Bewitched, Barney Miller, Rhoda, both Newhart shows (from the '70s & '80s), and Soap. Not all of them are meant to be  title sequences, but those are my faves and I think they are very cool. The Simpsons' couch opening gags are usually pretty funny. My faves:
The one where the big foot stomps on them.
The one where the living room becomes a Vegas stage (while a big band version of the theme plays in the background).
The one where the family parachutes onto the couch, except Homer's, whose parachute didn't open. He falls flat on the floor with a "doh!"
The one with the Vend-O-Couch. Homer bangs on the wall until the couch falls on top of him. "Doh!"

Laverne & Shirley, the intro was pretty funny showing the girls doing different things and Laverne sticks a glove on one of the beer bottles on the assembly line.

freshprinceofLA 04-17-2007, 10:05 PM The fresh prince of bel air intro's are always funny
treky 04-18-2007, 01:06 AM I like the ones on THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. Carl Reiner says on one of the DVDs that he used to call those "Hey Murts" because a husband could turn it on, then call to his wife, "Hey Murt (or whatever her name is) c'mon; this week they're gonna tell their kid where he came from" (or whatever the show was about.

benjamoon 04-18-2007, 06:36 PM I think some of you are missing the point of this topic..
anyway I agree that the "Coach" ones are funny but my favorites are "Cheers" - they rarely even have to do with the episode at all but they're always funny

Classicshowsgurl15 04-21-2007, 03:03 PM do you mean the theme song or the intro before the theme song?
comedyfreak 04-21-2007, 09:38 PM I enjoyed the intro to That 70's Show they were funny to me.
Laugh30 04-30-2007, 04:16 AM The longer opening from 3rd Rock From The Sun early on: "Well, they had an extra seat."
The Jeffersons, when they added scenes from various episodes. And always an infectious theme song.
Cheers for the theme song. No humor in the sequence, it's just warm and friendly.
The High Chaparral. No humor again, just exhilarating.
The Addams Family. The finger snapping is hypnotic.
Laugh30 04-30-2007, 04:26 AM Oh, okay, I've read this thread more carefully.
I'm stuck.
Need time. Back later!

If you're talking about brief scenes that are done before the opening credits and theme song come on---which happened frequently in older shows---my favorite would be "That Girl". At the end of these scenes, you knew that someone would be talking about Marlo Thomas and deliberately say the words "That Girl". Then Marlo would get a shocked look on her face, as if she wasn't expecting it, and then the theme would start. The viewers knew it was coming a mile away. The fun part was to see how and when it would happen.
