View Full Version : How many of you have told someone on the phone that you are ready to TVFactFan 04-17-2007, 11:35 AM hang up and they IGNORE you and keep talking?-lol My mom does this all the time and it takes me 15 extra mintues to hang up because I don;t want to be rude to my mom but it's so damm annoying Already Gone 04-17-2007, 12:16 PM That happened with one of my aunts. I said "well, I have to go now." She ignored me. Finally, I just said that I really had to go because I left the water running in the bathtub. Brian Damage 04-17-2007, 01:08 PM That's happened to me a few times. It can be really annoying. I am not one to chit chat on the phone much anyway. Number 9 Dream 04-17-2007, 01:48 PM Yeah, I really hate that too.. Buffyboy323 04-17-2007, 02:09 PM My mother is the same way when it comes to NOT hanging up. Sometimes I'm just like, oh god shut up!...But I don't want to be rude so I'm just staying there, but my mind is somewhere else. And not to be too blunt here, but the worst is when I have to pee, and I can't because someone won't let me go! My grandmother does this too, and in person. My Mom does the same thing when I'm at work-lol You would think she would not do that when she knows I'm at work Brieannas21 04-17-2007, 02:31 PM It happens with my aunt, She loves to talk. The other day she was talking to me and luckily my cell phone battery went dead. Also my uncle, he's only 9 yrs older than me so we talk a lot, and he can talk your ear off. He can literally talk to a stranger and hold a long conversation. AB 04-17-2007, 04:03 PM My sister is like that, you can say "well I've got to go" and she keeps right on talking like she never heard a thing. dawsongirl 04-17-2007, 05:40 PM This is why I don't talk on the phone. freshprinceofLA 04-17-2007, 10:53 PM Yea it's happened a couple of times while talking to a friend. Chelsea 04-18-2007, 05:58 AM One of several reasons why, when folks get to know me, I can come off as a bit of a...well...a word that's in our chat filter. I can't stand idle chatter and chit chat [lol] on phones or in person, and I generally won't take it. When I'm ready to hang up, I say my standard goodbye for them (usually), give 'em a second to see if it registered and if they want to say goodbye as well, then regardless, hang up. I...honestly...don't care if they're in the middle of a sentence about how their pet goldfish jumped out of it's bowl and into a thing of Easter Egg dye when they were in the 2nd grade, or what - I say bye, and that's that. (actually, knowing me, I'd probably let something THAT absurd go to the end anyway, but you get the point) The only person - ONLY person - I let go on is my mother, but that's obvious. (Luckily, my dad's about as much of a small talk person as I am - IE: Not at all - so that's not an issue). Anyone else, when I'm ready to hang up - unless the other person happens to be talking about something important - I hang up. Chocoholic 04-18-2007, 09:49 AM I've had people do that to me too, both on the phone and in person. It can be irritating, especially when you really do need to get off the phone or finish doing what you were in the middle of doing. coffield3 04-18-2007, 12:14 PM Yes im the same im not good on the phone,i just keep saying it so they go haha, but they know what im like so. |
