i thought he called them hollies....if i remember correctly he didn't directly call anyone a honkey in that episode...he was just telling the hawaiian guy that they used that term when referring to white people.

Now you got me wondering -
Maybe he said "haole", which is the Hawaiian word for white people?

It can't be....he said that word in the episode Louise's Setback later in season 6 when Bentley skated in the room to hug him.

I forgot verbatim what was said, but it was something like "getting a honkey off his back" (referring to Bentley)

On E! Untold Stories, Sherman Helmsley said that he wanted George to stop using the word and not to call Tom Willis that anymore. It was good that he stopped that.

I think Honkey was used the most on the Jeffersons than any other black show. I think it was only used ONCE on Sanford and Son and Good Times

Ok...I take what I said back...in the sixth season episode The Longest Day, George was watching a football game with Tom and he yelled at the TV saying something like "tackle that honkey"

I never minded George using that word. When he stopped saying it in the show, things became a lot "quiter" LOL

He did sometimes but not that often like when he called George-"Chicken Legs". But I think it should have been more back and forth instead of George doing most of the insulting

You can have a stomach. But when your stomach stick out to where you can't see your feet. That's all fat

Florence and George were the ones that did all the come backs, which is probably why the writers kept Willis dumber and quieter.

OK folks.....disregard what I said before

George used the word honkey in the seventh season episode As Florence Turns where Florence writes a mini-soap opera fashioned after the tv show Dallas, where J.R. is killed

When the Willises walked through the door, Louise says "there's my oldest and dearest friend", and George says "and her honkey husband"

I remember when Naomi Campbell got arrested for assault and she called the cop a honkey. Jay's response? "What, has she been watching too many reruns of the Mod Squad? Is she George Jefferson now?"

I ended up finding out that "honkey" was used on TV before Sanford and Son which was something I never knew

Yeah, they said "honkey" on Maude, too.
