From what I saw, he lessened his previous buffonery. It didn't totally go away, but he seemed to grow up a little more after his father died. But the damage was done as far as the show when James was killed off. What do you think?

I agree, he was more determined to make money to support the family, although some of his ideas weren't so great like the entertainment ideas. I don't really watch the episodes after James died much, I like the ones before a lot better too.

He definitely changed. He became a lot less goofy and in turn, became a lot more responsible.

He definitely changed in season 4. Seasons 5 and 6, he started acting silly again.

Why are you asking a question that has a OBVIOUS answer?-lol I mean what do you think someone is going to say NO?

He did change. I think it also had something to do with him getting older. I really noticed the change onec he finished school and started working.

Why do you always get an attitude with people on here?! I saw how you got smart with somebody on the Diff'rent Strokes board about the wrong information about Conrad Bain being dead. As much sh*it as you talk on here, you should have been banned long time ago. But, because you are popular and people kiss your ass on here, you can say whatever you want and get away with it. Why can't you answer BigBroDee's question even if you know the answer?! I am sure that poster wanted anyone to answer it in their point of view. You need to stop acting like a bully on here like you know everything because you don't!

He did change once James died, but i thought he got into more trouble as the show went on.

That's true. I actually liked J.J.'s work the best in season 5. He seemed kind of cool. By the end, he had regressed...

Did JJ go to some sort of art college or was he just self-taught? He did become more mature after year 3 which he would have to if the show were to have some level of realism. What was really lacking in this series was showing the children really pursuing their schooling. We know that Michael went to school but they should've done at least an episode in the post-James era about his schooling (and not just his moving in with a white girl). JJ going to art school would have made for some good plots and Thelma was really treated badly in this way- what in the world was she studying and did she ever graduate and if she did what kind of job did she/could she get? Thelma was a really underdeveloped character.

He changed somewhat, but the essential JJ was always lurking around the corner.
