I saw the episode this morning where James has the operation and Charles takes him up in the mountains and builds a stone tower with a cross on it. (I hate this one, a two-parter). As per Michael Landon/Charles Ingalls, he must have brought his hairdresser along with him. His beard is so phony and it is perfectly trimmed and shaped. His hair looked curly, fluffy and perfect, as usual. A real person out in the woods for so long would have greasy, matted hair and the beard would be wild and scraggly.

Lucy Ricardo had a more realistic beard in "The Moustache!" :rotflmao:

You forget, Charles was an experienced woodsman.
He probably manufactured his own hair trimmers out of bones and sharp rocks.

I bet he whipped up some hair care products from berries and plant extracts.

Ah, yes. How silly of me! I am sure Charles could have made trimmers out of bones and rocks. And he probably used the forty-pound gold nugget he dug up as a mirror. How ridiculous of me to doubt him.

Well, Charles always said that the Lord will provide.
He just happened to provide him with hairdresser.;)
